The Fourth Commandment is the first positive command given in the Decalogue. God has given it to us for our good.

It is not enough that we grow as individual believers; we must seek the growth and health of the church as a whole

The gospel tells us that we are weaker than we think we are, and we must rejoice in our weakness.

The Third Commandment is about more than avoiding "off-color" language. It instructs us how we are to speak and to regard the majesty of the Lord.

How do we tell a faithful church from a false one? How does a church know that it needs radical reformation?

The Lord humbled Paul so that Paul could delight in God’s mercy and his own humility. One of the greatest statements in all of Scripture is, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Paul reminds us that the way of the gospel is to boast about “Strength in Weakness”

This is perhaps the least understood of the commandments, so much so that some Christian traditions count it as a part of the First Commandment

Christians need to be discerning about what they are taught. This does not produce an aloof skepticism of pastors and teachers, but it should create in us a desire to know our Bibles so well that we will not be drawn astray by clever, spiritual-sounding words.
