Led by Nehemiah, the workers begin their task of rebuilding the wall and gates around Jerusalem.

Nehemiah turns from prayer to his daily work as the king’s servant. So to the Christian mist not use prayer as an excuse for indolence; rather, prayer is the means for the servant of the Lord to go about his daily work.

After hearing the report on the condition of Jerusalem, Nehemiah seeks the Lord in prayer. In his prayer, we see an example of how the Christian can seek the Lord in times of distress.

God sent forth His Son to redeem the world from the bondage of sin.

Man's only hope for redemption from sin is found in the God-Man Jesus Christ, who was born in Bethlehem.

Through the ministry of John the Baptist, God prepared the way for the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Ezra calls Israel to repentance for committing the sin of intermarriage with the women from the pagan nations.

There is a worldly way to confront sin and a godly way to confront sin. From Ezra's example in Chapter 9, we learn God's prescribed way of confronting sin.

With God's protection, He blesses the work of Ezra and the returning exiles as they worship the Him.
