In his temptation by Satan in the wilderness, Jesus endured every temptation that we go through, but without sin. Satan as the father of lies uses broken truth to lead us into temptation and sin. But Jesus has overcome the devil by his perfect obedience to the Father's will and through his sacrificial death upon the cross. Our strength and hope is in Christ alone as we face tempation in our own lives today.

Jesus seems to call us to do the impossible: turn the other cheek, go the extra mile, love our enemies, and pray for those who persecute us. Are we up for this? We can do this only because Jesus has done the impossible for us by living that life of perfect obedience to the Father's will and dying the death we rightly deserved. He is the One who enables us and empowers us to do what seems impossible.
