  • Being SJLC 2014: Gather
As the Triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - were all gathered for the baptism of Jesus, so we are baptized in the Name of that Triune God. • Christmas Refugee
Jesus, together with his earthly parents, Mary and Joseph, became refugees, having to flee for their lives into Egypt where they found safety. From Bethlehem to Egypt to Galilee and finally to Nazareth, very early on in his earthly life, the Lord Jesus experienced what so many others in our world have in becoming a displaced person and refugee. In so doing, Jesus identifies with all who are refugees and exiles - and we are all that because of our sin. Jesus came to bring us home and reunite us with our heavenly Father.

  • Beautiful Feet
Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus, the Word-made-flesh. Part of this is Jesus' beautiful feet by which He brought good news to our world through his life and ministry, his death upon the cross when his beautiful feet and hands were nailed to the cross, and his glorious resurrection. Jesus' messengers today also have beautiful feet as we carry his Good News out into the world.

  • Be Ready!
We do not know the day or hour when the Lord Jesus will come again - that is known only to the Father. Jesus does call us to be ready and prepared for the day of his coming when He will return to judge the world in righteousness.
