The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad (Psalms 97.1). The consistent echo throughout Scripture is that God reigns and that He desires for all peoples to find their great joy in His glorious reign in their life and world. We have been sent as the church with this as our mission.

God's reign is complete, His redemption is complete and His mission is not completed. He has given the church the great responsibility of completing His mission of making all peoples alert to His universal reign and superior worth in Jesus Christ.

Besides our relationship with Christ, a good communication system is most important for genuine oneness in marriage.

Today, we look at what God says about the permanence of the one flesh relationship that He has created to display His covenant, which He faithfully and graciously keeps with us.

For two very different and imperfect people to forge a faithful, God-glorifying marriage forbearance and forgiveness must be ever-present as we rely on Christ.

Getting in sync with God about marriage

The apostle Paul defined the church as the pillar and support of the truth (1 Timothy 3.15). As the body of Christ it is our most critical task to uphold and proclaim the truth of God. This affects every area of our lives, but over the next five weeks we will focus specifically on the truth about marriage.

Sin of whatever form, is not to be tolerated with in the disciple community, but is to be dealt with when it is noticed with all humility and sensitivity.

As we continue in Matthew’s Gospel today, we see the importance of taking serious our citizenship as humble servants in the community of the church. We see that our conduct among others is of utmost importance.

Disciples of Jesus are to be humble citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven
