Humans are terribly inefficient when it comes to managing waste. Luckily, clever entrepreneurs are transforming our veggie, meat, and fruit carcasses into delicious products, such as Kaitlin Mogentale the Founder of Pulp Pantry. Kaitlin decided to rescue discarded vegetable pulp and transform it into one of America’s favourite snack foods, chips. After 4 years of development, you can now find the final products in online and in Target and Whole Foods! Take a listen to learn how Pulp Pantry was built from the ground up.
Chef Jeremy Dixon wanted to create a product that was more than just delicious: he wanted it to be healthy, sustainable, and affordable to his vegan cafe patrons. And so, he created the very first Frooze Ball, a plant-based, real ingredient snack that comes in creative flavors like hazelnut or lemon cheesecake. After customers showed astounding love of his health balls, Jeremy decided it was time to commercialize the product, to bring it to the rest of New Zealand and hopefully, the world. This is where his long-time friend Cheri Jackson entered the picture. Cheri had a marketing background within food and had recently moved to America with her husband. She was the perfect person to introduce this New Zealand ball of health to American pallets. Thus far, she has overwhelmingly succeeded; Frooze Balls are now available in Trader Joe's nationwide. Take a listen to learn more about this innovative snack and the entrepreneurs behind it!
Chris Kirby’s small time company has taken the hummus market by storm, competing with the likes of Sabra. But how? He didn’t invent a radical new flavor, nor add a previously unheard of secret ingredient. Instead, he restored this all too often processed snack food to its simplest form— chickpeas, lemon, and garlic, all fresh and no preservative. On today’s episode, we talk to Chris about his journey in creating a fresh, ethical, and of course delicious product.
On today’s episode, we (virtually) sat down with Bjorn Quenemoen and Jamie O’She to discuss their company, Bjorn Qorn. Using solar energy to pop their corn kernels, and nutritional yeast for flavoring, Bjorn and Jamie have reinvented one of America’s favorite snacks to empower consumers to eat better for themselves, and the planet! Vegan, non-GMO, and and gluten-free, this popcorn caters to all diets. Tune in and listen to Bjorn, Jamie, Liv, and Olivia unravel the story of Bjorn Qorn.
