In this episode of Serving Jesus Christ, Pastor Swanson shares a Sunday message titled,

God In The Flesh

What was the first thing you thought of when contemplating the approach of Christmas this past November and December?

Only 4 out of the 10 people I asked before Christmas immediately noted that Christmas was a celebration about the coming of the Messiah...a time when God became man.

This made me wonder if many Christians fully comprehend the concept of the incarnation.

It made me think that many Christians fail to appreciate the wonder of Jesus coming into His Creation.

The doctrine of the incarnation teaches us that through the work of the Holy Spirit, God the Son became fully human in order to die for the sins of humanity and defeat death by the power of his resurrection.

The essence of this doctrine is that Christ was truly God and truly man.

It is very important to understand the following...

Apart from the "Word becoming flesh" and the incarnate Son of God living and dying in our place as our Savior, there is no salvation.

The principle purpose of the incarnation was to save men from their sins.

Luke 19:10 NAS95 "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

As we begin this new series in the Epistle of First John, John begins by providing evidence that Jesus really came!
