Meteorological Winter began on December 1st and where the Crone & Sage live and practice, we have had our first snowfall. It wasn’t much, just an inch or so, but the Crone shares a few quick ideas about First Snow Magick and how that pristine field of white inspires us to enjoy the changing of the season before we get buried (literally and metaphorically) by not only the snows of winter but the holidays.

As we head into the times of most Dark Energy, the Crone and Sage delve into two of the Times of Samhain Connections writing prompts, each sharing their thoughts about one of them. In our Lunar Cycle, we are celebrating the Dark Times of the Moon with its receptive energies of mysteries and philosophy based on the fact that the Moon is moving from being in Scorpio astrologically to Sagittarius. The Sage also shares how he is much more in tune with the Lunar Energies in terms of its Waxing and Waning properties. Our Liturgy Reading is a Praise Poem celebrating Families since we have just finished with Thanksgiving and are moving into the “holiday” season. In our Ritualization of the Everyday segment, the Sage shares about some magickal work he is planning to further his connections with the Element of Water and the Crone is planning to return to a quick nightly connection with the Lunar Energies. Finally, the Sage finishes up with a Witchstone reading about some potential energies for one’s Sacred Three for the upcoming Solstice season.

The Crone & Sage share about their experience with rededication at Egress as well as letting some things go at the end of another ICE (Ingress, Congress, Egress) cycle and how grateful we are that we can be together in person. (Yes, doing this year of ritual practices has made us up our game a bit and we appreciate the changes we are creating). It’s the Full Ancestor Moon as we record and that seems to have exponentially increased the energy we have been experiencing. During our Ritualization of the Everyday, we discuss how we can potentially enhance those mundane rituals that are part of our daily lives that we may even be unaware of at this point because we have done them so often. The Crone shares a reading from the LIturgy which is a Praise Poem to the Ancestors. Finally, as always, our Sage gives a Witchstone Reading about energies that potentially influence us; he calls this one a Now, Near, and Far reading and wanted to see how to manage the changes in the current political climate.

Many Witches perform some sort of rededication to their personal spiritual path at some point in their practices, often on a yearly basis. While the more “traditional” time is considered at Candlemas in February, those of us on The Path perform this during our Egress Ritual for the Times of Samhain. To us, it make the most sense to do so now as we continue down into the darkest energies of the year as a time of contemplation and study. The Crone shares our own personal rededication statement or oath if you prefer but we recommend writing one of your own and figuring out when (or if) you want to perform one. Some Witches we know do so on the anniversary of when they started practicing Witchcraft but it is up to you to choose the appropriate moment for yourself.

As part of our ritual practices on The Path, we share Housel together, eating and drinking something towards the end of any ritual. This practice serves two wonderful purposes. First, it is a way to celebrate being together and second, it is also a way to continue the process of grounding ourselves back into the mundane from the magickal experience we have shared. We are celebrating our Congress Ritual for the Times of Samhain on Halloween and it is now a “tradition” that the Crone makes Harvest Apple Bars for this particular Housel. The Crone & Sage first talk about how the Solar Cycle seems to have speeded up after the Autumnal Equinox. Both of us have been somewhat startled by how much darker it is earlier in the evening and how late the sun seems to rising above the horizon in the morning. We are working towards our Congress Ritual for the Times of Samhain which we will celebrate on October 31st. We have all experienced the Super Moon this week and the energy has been seen as an amplifier for any type of magick. Those of us on The Path  call the October Moon the Thinned Veil Moon as it will be thinnest for hoping to connect with Ancestor Energy at Congress. The Crone shares a chant for The Esbat of the Full Moon from our Liturgy book, The LIturgy of The Path A Book of Prayer for Witches. The two of them then move on to a discussion of what they are up to currently in the small daily things that are “Witchy”. Finally, the Sage finishes off the episode with a Witchstones Cards Reading using a new expanded format. We are entering the Times of Samhain, which we also know as the Times of the Flows of Connections, where we work more easily with the Element of Water. Water is often associated with emotions and other personal spiritual growth areas. So in that spirit, here is a Jar Spell for Wisdom. Wisdom is often associated with the accumulation of knowledge which we tend to do more often on The Path during the Dark Times of the Year. However, knowing which knowledge to use and when to do so or not to do so is truly wisdom.
