Shahed is co-founder and CTO of Affinis Labs, an award-winning social innovation firm that helps clients creatively tackle complex global challenges through entrepreneurship. Through Affinis Labs, he incubates startups for global markets and organizes hackathons to create social impact around the world. Prior to his work with Affinis Labs, Shahed served as Senior Advisor for Technology at the US Department of State, where he worked on digital diplomacy in the bureaus of Secretaries of State John Kerry and Hillary Clinton, and was responsible for building and launching the Generation Change and Viral Peace projects. Shahed is also the founder of Altmuslim, an online magazine with 2.5 million annual unique users, and served as its editor-in-chief for 10 years before its 2011 acquisition by Patheos/Beliefnet. In 1998, he created Zabihah, the world's first and largest Halal restaurant guide, with 10 million annual users and 500,000 mobile app downloads. He has served on Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe’s Council on Youth Entrepreneurship and is a 2016 Truman National Security Fellow.

Steven is 17 years old, and cares about closing the youth skills gap and empowering young entrepreneurs. He’s the founder of ProjectileX, a youth business education non-profit organization that has impacted over 120,000 students, Managing Editor of Youth Business Collective a youth-run publication with over 17,000 readers, Fellow at Stanford’s Designership Institute, Member of the Youth Skills Initiative at Global Business Coalition for Education, and Head of Youth Engagement for Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang.

Dan has been working with youth for the past two decades as a teacher, school administrator, and organizational leader.

Over the years, Dan has been recognized numerous times for his work with young people, receiving the Meritorious Service Award from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, the Philadelphia Diane Watson City Community Service Award, the Distinguished Educator of the Year for Eastern North America, one of 2017’s Nationswell Tech Impact All-Stars, and, most recently, the Stephen Ries Community Advocate of the Year Award from the United Way. Under his tenure, Hopeworks has been honored to be recognized as the 2016 Greater Philadelphia Non Profit of the Year, and the 2016 South Jersey Non Profit of the Year, as well as winning the prestigious 5th Annual Scattergood Innovation Award.
