There are so many formulas; Some of them essential, and others…not as much. Rocket science…YES. Micromanaging the nutrition of a human being…more nuance required. Join me as we dive into some of the favorite formulas used within the science of nutrition, and how to frame, adjust, or disregard them in your unique life!
While we are in different genres, it seems that we have overlap! Here is a link to the book I referenced by Kate Bowler. Everything Happens for a Reason: And Other Lies I’ve Loved.

Join me as I pick back up with my interview with Jessi. Last time we discussed her journey from dieting to Intuitive eating, and now we are going to dive into the bold and brave move she made in order to advocate for weight-inclusive care in her profession as a pharmacist.
More about Jessi:
Jessica Jones is a critical care clinical pharmacist specialist and preceptor in the Metro Detroit Area. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Mercer University in 2010 and completed 2 years of post-graduate residency training at the Detroit Medical Center. She is board certified in both critical care (BCCCP) and pharmacotherapy (BCPS).
Jessi is actively involved in numerous regional, state, and national professional organizations working to advance the profession of pharmacy. She is a self-proclaimed introvert, book-lover, and loves to travel. Her favorite travel destination is the French Riviera/Almalfi Coast.
Jessi is dedicated to continuously developing her own personal growth. She started her intuitive eating journey in 2021, and is endeavoring to expand the principles she has learned into an “integrative living” approach to her life on the whole.

Sharing some of the painful stories in our lives is hard and tremendously brave. And I am tremendously thankful to those of you willing to bear your hearts with me on Shame Free Eating. On the show today my guest Jessi shares her dieting story. As great as the idea seemed for each new diet and the momentum it seemed to provide in her life — it ultimately drained her of vitality, confidence in herself, and the ability to keep dieting. What was the final straw and how has the journey looked as she reclaimed true control and trust in herself?

This is a rough episode. I discuss aspects of the new guidelines put out by the AAP, and the reasons they are harmful to children and scientifically unsound.
Here are links to additional resources discussed in the episode:
Podcasts about BMI:
There are some controversial guidelines coming out as well as conversations around weight loss drugs and surgery that need a whole lot more perspective and light shined on them. Let's start by diving into weight stigma. What is it and how does it affect quality of life, physical health, and health disparities?
Listen in and then write or voice message me with your questions or comments. I want to hear from you and continue to add clarity around this topic however I can.

More about Adrien:
Adrien Paczosa (RD, LD, CDERD-S) has more than 20 years of experience working in the dietetic field with a focus on
eating disorders, neurochemistry nutrition, and business development. In 2007, Paczosa founded and opened her first
private practice in Austin, Texas called iLiveWell Nutrition. Paczosa combined evidence-based nutrition science with a
compassionate approach to counseling patients to deliver health outcomes and improve patients’ day-to-day lives.
She has personally counseled hundreds of patients ranging from severe eating disorder cases to diabetics to high-
performance athletes.
A few years later, iLiveWell Nutrition has become Nourish — a nationwide, virtual-first nutrition group focused on
addressing America’s healthcare crisis through greater access to nutrition care. Paczosa now serves as the Chief
Clinical Officer of Nourish and what started out as just an idea now serves thousands of patients, nearly all of whom use
the service via telehealth and are completely covered by their health insurance.
