Ricky Gervais is back with a Netflix show many are saying is his best work ever (and yes, better than ‘The Office!’ Steve Carell even said so in a Tweet!).
In the dark comedy ‘Afterlife,’ Ricky plays Tony, a small-town journalist whose wife of many years has died of cancer.
He decides to turn around his grief and do whatever he wants and tell everyone what he thinks! And of course, when you act like you have nothing to lose and you are a character created by Ricky Gervais, hilarity ensues!
Brad Blanks caught up with Ricky and talked to him candidly about the show and it’s immediate success.
‘Afterlife’ is out now on Netflix.

9-time Emmy award winning co-anchor of “CBS-2 News This Morning” & the first lady of Yonkers Mary Calvi stopped by the big show to talk about her debut novel “Dear George, Dear Mary: A Novel of George Washington's First Love.”
It explores the ill-fated romance between Yonkers Colonial-era heiress Mary Philipse & 24-year-old George Washington.
Mary told us a little about herself before anchoring at CBS-2, she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in broadcast journalism from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and worked at News 12 Westchester before making it to NYC.
Mary spent years as a child wondering about the heiress who once lived in the grand manor in her hometown of Yonkers. She heard in passing that the heiress was courted by George Washington. Curiosity compelled Mary to do her own research and what she uncovered stunned her!
“Just being able to really get in there and learn about history” Mary boasts about the process of making the book, “Which I’ve always been interested in but not to this extent, I almost became quite obsessive about it.”
Mary will be signing copies of the book February 19th from 6:30-8:30 at the Barnes & Noble on Central Park Ave in Yonkers, February 20th at the Fraunces Tavern Museum in lower Manhattan & the 92nd Street Y on Lexington Ave February 21st!

Heather McDonald wrote, produced & appeared on E!’s Chelsea Lately for the entire 7 year run and now she’s discovered great success in the podcast world!
After Chelsea’s run came to an end she had a couple of shows that didn’t pan out so she proclaimed “well, I guess it’s time for a podcast! I thought it was like over with… I guess I’ll be like everybody else!”
It turns out “Juicy Scoop” was a good idea, the podcast is available twice a week on iTunes, Android or Stitcher, it has 300 episodes and over 29 million downloads!
She thanks her husband for turning the podcast into a success, “let’s give him some credit….he pursued all the things, I don’t like reading contracts” she says, “I just want to perform and I just want to work, so it’s kind of a nice combo.”
Heather uses her 3 kids as material for her podcast and her shows, “he wrote a whole report in school about Jo Koy” Heather says about her 16 year old son after he went to go see mom’s comedy show.
“To humiliate my son we wrapped his car with my face and the ‘Juicy Scoop’ logo” she jokes, “it’s not as profitable to have boys and exploit them….Kris Jenner she put them all in bikinis and look at them now!”
Heather gets the juiciest stories from her guests & talks about everything from the Real Housewives, celebrity scandals to true crime! “it’s almost like I’m doing a variety show, it’s different.”
Heather does standup at Caroline’s on Broadway February 7th – 9th with a few tickets available at www.Carolines.com.
While discussing an episode of 'The Bachelor' where a contestant admitted their first kiss was during the competition, Brad's young daughter Matilda says she wants to go on the show! This leads to the big show sharing their own first kiss stories (well, most of them)!
Patty corrects the room when we assume she had her first kiss on a tractor at 12 years old: "What do you think she's Tom Brady kissing everybody?" Scott says.
Sue admits to being 14 for her first kiss, "billy down the block" and Scott says he was "13 or 14."
"I met a girl...all the kids used to go to the theater and i sat next to her" he says. "I got a taste of that and said 'ah this is pretty good!'"
Deborah Norville checked in this morning to talk about what's coming up on Inside Edition, and one story she had to get in was a shocking admission by Liam Neeson!
Liam admitted in a recent interview he had violent thoughts about killing a black person after learning that someone close to him had been raped.
He shared the story while promoting his latest movie "Cold Pursuit" and called his reaction “horrible,” saying it taught him a lesson about the primal need for revenge.
Deborah says of Liam's remarks "if you just repeat it in your head it will generally prevent you from doing something stupid and maybe Mr. Neeson needed to know this...'first thing you do before you get in trouble, use your head on the double," something she taught her three kids when they were young.
“Inside Edition” airs weeknights at 7pm on CBS-2 & is TV's longest-running, top-rated and most-honored syndicated news magazine!
