  • #90: How you can spend your summer

Today’s podcast episode will cover what you can do over the summer to not only get the rest you need but also feel prepared for the coming school year.  I’m going to share two very specific actions you can take that I truly believe are most important over summer break.

    • Intentional rest
    • 1-2 hours of work each week

I believe there’s a messy in between that can help you feel rested but also get you feeling confident about going into another school year. These are the two actions you can take to not only get the rest you need but also start the coming school year on the right foot.

  • #88: Navigating the end of the school year

I know some of you have already finished your school year, but where I am there are still about 2 weeks of school left. On today's podcast episode, I give you four strategies that will help you end your year feeling more confident and less burnt out.

    1. Focus less on the act of "teaching"
    2. Set intentional "me time"
    3. Navigating behaviors
    4. Stick to boundaries

These are the four strategies I  learned the hard way. Unfortunately, burnout has become the norm at the end of the school year and that's what new teachers are being taught. Burnout is never normal and should stop being a part of our vocabulary as teachers. I teach these strategies in more depth to my clients inside of 1:1 coaching. If you are ready to ditch burnout and get the mentorship you deserve, you can apply for 1:1 coaching the link below.

  • #87: Teaching is Just a JOB

I believed that to be a good teacher, I needed to do it ALL. I was always so busy and telling myself:

    • "I have to lesson plan over the weekend, otherwise I'll fail as a teacher"
    • "Teaching is a profession where work needs to be done after hours"
    • "Being busy means I'm successful"
    • "Teaching is hard"

I was always waiting for the next vacation so I could reboot and be excited about going back to the classroom again.  When I say teaching is just a job I don’t mean that it becomes a job you don’t care about.

Here’s the thing… changing your mindset to believe that teaching is just a job isn’t something that happens overnight. Changing your mindset gives you the ability to change your life.

    Your mindset creates your reality

Find out how this mindset helped me create the reality I had always wanted. Happy Listening!

  • #86: Shifts Made + Lessons Learned

Things have shifted and I learned some important lessons throughout this maternity leave coverage these last several weeks.  All of these lessons would not have been possible without the support and guidance I invested in.

    1. I had to find different boundaries to set
    2. I can create my own energy in and out of the classroom
    3. How I dealt with mindset struggles

Getting through these hard lessons has made the biggest difference in the way I live my life. I don't let teaching consume me anymore. I create the change I want to see.  If you are feeling like your energy is depleted, as I have these last several weeks; like you are taking those negative feelings home after a hard of teaching, I want you to know that it doesn’t have to be that way.

You can create this change with intentional support. Apply for 1:1 coaching today!

  • Getting Out of The Classroom Series: Introduction

As I was brainstorming fun ways to bring educational content to you through this podcast with my coach, I noticed a trend. I have been getting a lot of teachers asking me how I transitioned out of the classroom who want to pursue a new role outside of teaching but really have no idea where to start.

This series will be split into 4 episodes:

    • The introduction: that’s today’s episode where I will share my transitioning story, and who this series is truly for.
    • Part 1: will come next week where I will talk about the skills I developed in order to get a job with Early Intervention as a developmental interventionist.
    • Part 2: will focus on my business and the tools I used to grow the business while still teaching full-time. These are tools that got me to where I am today.
    • Part 3: will be the final episode of the series where we will talk about the option of how you can stay in the classroom and love your job every single day.

This series is for the teacher who has been thinking about transitioning out of the classroom but isn’t quite sure where to begin. OR for the teacher that really wants to stay in the classroom but isn't sure it's possible at this point.

  • #85: Mistakes I made as a Transitioning Teacher

Today’s podcast episode is all about the mistakes I made when I decided I wanted to transition out of the classroom. This episode is really to help you learn from my mistakes so you don’t repeat them and so that you can create a better outcome more quickly once you transition rather than it taking you over a year to get to that place, like it did for me.

    1. Putting all my eggs into one basket
    2. Believing Self-Doubt
    3. Relying on savings to get me through
    4. Taking on jobs because I felt desperate

All of this is designed for you inside of my 1:1 coaching. I give you the tools and the mindset training to be able to transition out of the classroom with complete confidence. Apply to learn more!

  • #84: Teaching Children Emotions

Have you ever considered that ensuring children know how to navigate their emotions in an appropriate way will help you to continue managing your classroom in a way that works for both you and your students?

Today, I bring you that perspective after a hard first week covering a maternity leave.

    We discuss:

    • Keeping calm in the midst of chaos
    • Creating a routine in the classroom
    • Reading books about emotions + feelings
    • Breathe work
    • Validating children's feelings

So today, we're focusing on how helping children understand + navigate their emotions can actually help you manage your classroom in a way that is geared specifically toward your students.
