  • #79: Dealing with grief + loss in an early childhood classroom

I have a guest with an incredible story. Her name is Michele Benyo and she is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®, early childhood parent coach, and the founder of Good Grief Parenting. After her 6-year-old son died of cancer, her 3-year-old daughter said, “Mommy, half of me is gone.” This heartbreaking statement focused Michele’s career as an early childhood parenting specialist on the impact of grief on young children, particularly after child loss. Michele equips parents and other caring adults to provide the support young grieving children need to cope well with any loss. So today, Michele is giving you the tools to be able to handle sudden loss and grief among your students in the classroom.

  • #78: Integrating work + life as a busy teacher

We all have excuses as to why we are too busy to make plans or too busy to spend quality time with our partners or spouses.

Teaching is always busy and I doubt that will change. It's a matter of changing our thoughts around our ability to integrate work + life; letting teaching be a small part of your life rather than you entire life.

In today's episode I dive into 3 excuses I hear teachers using on a pretty consistent basis and I was one of those teachers just a few years ago.

    • "I don't have time"
    • "If I don't work outside contracted hours, I won't get everything done"
    • "I don't know what I'd do if I wasn't busy working"

    Sound familiar?

Tune in + take a deep dive with me as to how you can change your thoughts and therefore, change your life for the better.

  • #76: Mentorship inside The Confident ECE

Have you ever wondered what 1:1 coaching calls are truly like?

You've heard that they are 60 minutes and geared toward your needs as a teacher but is that really accurate?

In today's episode, I break down some topics of conversation inside of my 1:1 calls with a client. This client is an assistant teacher + is struggling with bringing stress home with her and doing work on her days off.  We started with different strategies to help her decompress and discussed mindset throughout our most recent conversation.

We are six weeks in and there's been a tremendous amount of growth. I can't wait to see what happens in the next 4 weeks. This client is already thinking of extending for another 10 weeks together. So much can happen over a short period of time. Spots are open until they're not so grab your free 60 minute call with the link below.

  • #75: Do Teachers Need a Degree to Teach?

This may be a more controversial topic to discuss but I thought it was important. I have always believed that a degree can get you further than you imagined when your end goal is to be a classroom teacher.

I might have been wrong... or at least my thoughts around that have changed.

On today's podcast episode, I have my good friend + roommate as a guest because she has made some tremendous strides without a bachelors degree. She is someone who has found ways to still learn even if it's not the traditional way. She worked really hard to get where she is and has not given up. All of this to say, it is possible to achieve a lot as an educator even without a degree.
