  • #151: A Full Mentorship Experience for Teachers

Have you ever felt the pull to invest in mentorship? Or maybe you're struggling because you don't have the support you thought you would? You've come to the perfect place! Unfortunately, mentorship and support is not always a given when new teachers come into a school building. Sometimes you have to invest and go outside of your comfort zone in order to get the support and mentorship you need and deserve.

Today's episode is an oldie but goodie. My friend and client is here to tell you about her experience inside of Teaching Transformed; a 1:1 coaching program for new + struggling teachers. We cover:

    • What she learned in her time inside of 1:1 coaching
    • How she was able to overcome challenges as a veteran teacher
    • What she has to say to those thinking about applying

And so much more! Happy Listening!

  • #150: Taking Leadership as a Classroom Teacher

In today's episode,I decided to speak from a leadership lens but one that is more geared toward teachers being leaders in the classroom. If you don't already know this... teachers ARE leaders whether or not they’re willing to see it for themselves. It’s something I used to preach about but want to revisit the topic this week. Here’s what we’ll cover:

    • What we’re taught versus what it means to be a leader in the classroom
    • How you can start to take a leadership role in your classroom
    • How mentorship can help you become more of a leader rather than a manager

Reflective questions discussed in the episode:

    • What have I done so far that’s helped me build relationships with my students’ families?
    • What have I done that isn’t really working to build relationships?
    • How can I do better in communicating to parents regarding their children, what’s happening in the classroom, and having them take a more active role in their child’s learning?

  • #147: Reconnecting with your WHY

You probably are sick of hearing about reconnecting with your "WHY" but today's podcast episode will give you an inside look at how you can create your "WHY" and then continue to reconnect to it.

    Reflection questions to help you:

    • What happened today that made me consider leaving the classroom?
    • What are my favorite parts of teaching?
    • How can I work through the hardships so that I can show up again tomorrow?
    • How am I taking care of myself throughout the school year?
    • Is what’s happening in school really a reason to leave or is it an easy way out?

  • #145: Reflections on the First Month Back to School

I wanted to reflect back to you guys about my first month back in the classroom after being out of the classroom for three years. This month’s theme: Reset, Reflect, and Reconnect. I know how busy September can be and how much busier October can get. I want to make sure each and every one of you is able to reset, reflect, and reconnect.

    • Reflection #1:  the transition back into the classroom was NOT easy and smooth like I was imagining it to be.
    • Reflection #2: even when things don’t go well, that doesn’t mean you should just forget about all the work you’ve put in
    • Reflection #3: Planning is what makes the classroom a less chaotic space at the start of the school year (and I don’t necessarily mean lesson planning)
    • Reflection #4: always creating space for rest

Could you do me a favor? If you could leave a review on this show it’ll help boost the podcast so that more teachers like you can tune into the podcast each week. I hope you enjoyed this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it.

Creating a work-life balance can feel pretty impossible, especially as a new teacher. There is so much to do with very little time to get the work done. Over the years, I've found that there are 3 key elements to having the ability to create the work-life balance you're looking for.

    • Time management
    • Prioritization
    • Boundaries

Find out how you can implement each of these elements to help you create the work-life balance you're desiring.
