In this episode my guest is Larry Indiviglia, author of the memoir 126 Days, 11 Minutes: Our Love Story. This collection of experiences allows his readers to walk in his shoes as he shares his deepest, most personal experiences from his relationship with a woman suffering from Stage IV cancer until the time she transitions. This intimate story provides many life lessons such as the importance of keeping hope alive, embracing life, honoring the wishes of the patient, even though you might not agree, overcoming the challenges of navigating the health care system, and standing strong in one’s truth even when totally scared.
He wrote the book to honor the life of Gayle and their love for each other. Although brief, Larry considers his relationship with Gayle as one of the most profound experiences of his life. He also hopes 126 Days, 11 Minutes inspires others to say "yes" to love even when logic says, "no." Larry believes there are many beautiful souls who are looking to discover and experience unconditional love. His book shows it is possible.
In addition to the book, we talk about self love, tango, living fully, and the way of the Universe.
To sum up our time together, Larry shared a lyric of one of Gayle's favorite songs, "Nature Boy" by Nat King Cole. "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return."
"The heart has no questions, the mind has no answers. And if you listen to the heart and you follow it, you're gonna experience a love that maybe you thought you never would be able to do."
