Today, Josh and Casey go into a highly debated online subject to seek the truth about NoFap and the movement. NoFap is a growing online movement and lifestyle choice that encourages individuals to abstain from pornography consumption and masturbation. Proponents of NoFap believe that regular engagement in these activities can lead to various negative physical, psychological, and social consequences. By committing to NoFap, individuals hope to regain control over their sexual impulses and redirect their energy and focus towards more productive pursuits. Advocates claim a wide range of potential benefits, including increased self-esteem, improved mental clarity, enhanced motivation, and better relationships. However, it's important to note that the scientific community remains divided on the validity of these claims, and more research is needed to fully understand the potential impact of NoFap on individuals' lives. Ultimately, the choice to practice NoFap is a personal one, with its effects varying from person to person.
To start the conversation, the guys talk about their first time hearing about the movement as well as providing a formal definition and their preemptive opinions on it before delvin into the research. Moving on, they discuss more on why the movement became so popular including the recent self-improvement trend for guys before going through how the movement was founded. This causes Casey to explain the recent trend of dopamine control supported by creators like Andrew Huberman. Continuing the conversation, the guys discuss how chronic masturbation can affect your relationships both with partners and family before diving in to some statistics such as how often guys of different age groups masturbate/watch porn. This causes Josh to bring up men's recent decline in testosterone where the guys debate what has been the cause and go through some more statistics before describing the harms of chronic masturbation. Wrapping things up with some solutions, the guys discuss how to separate porn and masturbation habits as well as seeking caution with online gurus giving out fake promises, and where to find support online if you are having issues.

The mental health care systems in the USA and UK exhibit distinct approaches and challenges. In the USA, mental health care often relies on a mix of private insurance and public programs, leading to variations in accessibility and quality. While there's a range of services available, including therapy and medication, the costs can be prohibitive for many individuals. In contrast, the UK's National Health Service (NHS) offers a more centralized approach with free or low-cost mental health services.
Josh and Casey go into depth on the differences and what each system offers a young man in need of mental health treatment. To start, the guys give their first impressions on which system they think is bitter, including their perspectives before researching the differences and where they would rather live. Next, the guys do a more in-depth breakdown with some help from ChatGPT summarizing all of the differences between the two systems.
Moving on, Casey breaks down how and when the U.S. started taking mental health seriously at a government level before getting into some statistics on how much mental healthcare in the U.S. costs per person and as taxpayers. Switching gears to the U.K. Josh breaks down their healthcare setup including the proper process to see a therapist before breaking down some wait time and spending statistics. The guys end the episode giving their final opinions on which system is better for which people and if they would still prefer to stay in the U.S.

Dr. Jessica Perrotte completed both her Ph.D. and M.S. in psychology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her research explores how health risk behaviors are situated within a network of interrelated factors. Much of her recent and ongoing work examines the links between broad sociocultural processes (e.g., acculturation, gender role socialization) and hazardous drinking among young adults.
To start the guys get right into it and ask Jessica if men are statically more likely to abuse alcohol than women before asking about how masculinity norms influence abusive drinking. This causes Casey to bring up the timeline of when this pressure actually starts and how guys can avoid it before Josh asks Jessica about her research on Hispanic cultures specifically and why there may be differences in habits across cultures. Switching topics, Casey asks if these trends are similar to smoking/other drugs before Josh follows up on if risky sexual behavior is on the same trend. Moving on, the guys discuss whether tendencies toward abusing alcohol are caused more by social influence or genetics before asking about how the recent decline in men's mental health can be contributing to abusing alcohol. The guys end the conversation by talking about the resources needed to assist young men struggling with alcohol/drug abuse.

The world's happiest places to live, often found in countries like Finland, Denmark, and Norway, boast high levels of well-being due to a combination of factors. These nations prioritize social equality, strong social safety nets, and accessible healthcare and education. Additionally, a strong sense of community, trust in institutions, and a healthy work-life balance contribute to their residents' overall happiness. The presence of abundant natural beauty, low crime rates, and effective governance further enhance the quality of life in these regions. Josh and Casey dig into the best cities to improve mental health, what makes them so, and what effect this has on young men.
To start the episode the guys share their opinions on where they would be the happiest including reminiscing on some reasons why they would prefer Europe over the U.S. Next, Casey discusses the benefits and drawbacks of moving different distances whether that be across town or across the world and how that could improve your mental health. Moving on, Josh brings up the importance of financial stability for young men today before the guys break down some statistics starting with the top ten happiest places in Illinois and the differences between them. Dr. Volling is the Lois Wladis Hoffman Collegiate Professor of Psychology at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on early social and emotional development, parent-child interaction, and family relationships. She has conducted extensive research on the role of fathers and children's development and continues to work with international collaborators, students, and post-doctoral fellows to advance research in father-child relationships.
Parents significantly shape men's mental health through upbringing and socialization. Positive, nurturing parenting can foster emotional resilience, self-esteem, and open communication, equipping men with effective coping skills. Conversely, parenting styles marked by emotional neglect or societal pressures can contribute to mental health struggles, highlighting the crucial role parents play in influencing their sons' emotional well-being. Josh and Casey ask Dr. Volling about these relationships.
To start, Casey asks Dr. Volling about her background including why she wanted to study parenting before Josh asks how fathers can affect the mental health of their children as well as the impact of fatherhood on young dads. Dr. Volling's remarks cause Casey to bring up if parental anxiety/depression can spread to children before the guys ask how having one vs. two parents can affect your mental health. Staying on topic, Josh asks if there are differences in single mothers vs. fathers before discussing why there has been an increase in single-parenting. Continuing forward Casey asks if we should encourage co-parenting and if there are any drawbacks to having unmarried parents. Switching gears, Dr. Volling gives her best advice on raising a child to fathers before answering how testosterone levels and traditional masculinity norms can affect fatherhood.
