In this episode, I sit down with Adriana Keefe, a human design expert, to discuss the middle and human design. We cover a lot of ground, from the basics of what human design is to the nuances of how it can help you understand yourself and others better.
She shares her experiences with human design, how she came to love it, and I even share how it made this podcast happen.
Adriana also gets into her own relationship with the middle from a middle child to the middle moment that changed her life.
It's an awesome conversation!

HPG shares her journey of getting sober, getting diagnosed with breast cancer, and finding support through it all. She and I also discuss the challenges of being a mom while battling a serious illness and the importance of asking for help. It is a really open and honest conversation that I am so proud of!

In this episode of my podcast, I share my personal thoughts on motherhood and the fears and concerns that come with it. I believe it's important to be honest and open about these things, so that we can support each other through the ups and downs of parenthood.
As a woman, I have always worried about losing my identity in motherhood and being defined solely by my role as a mom. But, I'm lucky to have a supportive husband who values equality in our partnership. He encourages me to pursue my own interests and hobbies outside of our relationship, and I do the same for him. We both understand the importance of being our own person and not relying solely on each other.
In the second part of the episode, Joe joins me to talk about the importance of communication in a marriage. We also discuss the need for both partners to give more than they take, and how this contributes to a healthy and happy relationship. I also share my love for a new book called "The Science of Stuck" by Britt Frank, which offers practical advice on overcoming obstacles and finding your path forward. Oh, and don't forget the Veggie Tray Update!
Overall, the main message of this episode is the importance of maintaining your own identity and interests within a relationship, as well as the necessity of open and honest communication. Thanks for listening!

In this episode of Sharing the Mddl, I celebrate my 7th wedding anniversary by delving into the concept of the seven-year itch in marriage and exploring how it relates to the messy middle of marriage in the Essay from the Mddl. I share my own experience of marriage, my family's history of long-lasting marriages, and how divorce is not necessarily a failure. Later, my husband Joe joins me for advice from the middle and we discuss what makes our marriage successful thus far and provide advice on how to keep a marriage strong. We talk about the importance of having a sense of humor, being honest with oneself, and understanding one's own needs and wants before communicating them to a partner. We emphasize that marriage is a personal thing and what works for one couple may not work for another. We caution against influencers and self-help gurus who tout their marriages, as their marriages may end up being terrible. We also agree that core values such as political beliefs, societal issues, and parenting styles should be in sync. We acknowledge that it's okay to have different opinions and values on some things, as long as they communicate effectively and come to a compromise. Finally in Lacey Loves, Joe and I also share our current favorites, from a show on Amazon Prime to kitchen gloves for handling meat in the kitchen. The podcast episode concludes with me announcing that the rest of our conversation will be saved for a mini-episode next week, indicating that the topic of marriage will continue to be explored.

I interviewed Laura Sinclair, a public relations and social media marketing executive who is also a serial entrepreneur. Laura shared her perspective on the "messy middle," where she lives as a mother and entrepreneur. During the pandemic, Laura owned a CrossFit gym in Ontario, Canada, which eventually had to shut down permanently during COVID-19. She talked about the challenges faced by a gym owner during the pandemic and the struggles of balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship, particularly when she had to make the difficult decision to close her gym. Laura then transitioned to running a digital marketing agency, where she now supports small business owners as a business and marketing mentor. Despite her preference for in-person interactions, Laura adapted to the digital world and emphasized the importance of community in the CrossFit experience.
Laura talked about how she uses her experience as a fitness coach to help women in business as a coach and mentor. She emphasized the importance of transformation and helping people navigate their middle, which is where she feels her expertise lies. Laura also talked about the importance of being a good person with boundaries rather than just being nice, especially for women in business. She shared two pieces of advice: the importance of being a good person rather than just nice, and asking for help and not trying to do everything on your own.

Welcome to Sharing the Mddl, a podcast where we learn to embrace the messy middles of life. In this mini episode, I share my recent experience with crocheting and how it taught me to embrace failure as a part of progress. I also give advice to a listener who is caught in the middle of a conflict between their best friend and their romantic partner. I suggest using meta communication to communicate about the situation and focus on finding a way for the two important people in their life to get along, rather than reconciling. Finally, I share my Lacey Loves for the week, including re-watching New Girl and appreciating family dinners. Thanks for joining me today, and remember, it's okay to fail and embrace the middle.
