ShatterCast

[Topics: Hope, Helping Others, Anxiety]

The entire world has been impacted by the current global health crisis.  In the conclusion of this two-part special edition of ShatterCast, we chat about the impact on the entertainment industry and on everyday lives.

How can we still maintain hope in the midst of everything that is happening? And how can we share that hope with others?

Special Note: Please forgive any audio issues, this was a special "Unplugged" edition filmed outside of our main production studio to honor social distancing restrictions.

[Topics: Changing Character, Personality Shifts]

Recently, the upcoming Batman movie has given us glimpses of their new version of the character.  What does our team think of the new direction and specifically of the new design of the Batsuit?

It can be difficult to know which version of the Batman character a new movie may present. In our own lives, we may encounter people whose character or personality can also shift in unpredictable ways.  Does our own personality ever shift?  What are some positive ways we can still interact with people during these times?  And who is the only One we may encounter who is always dependable and whose character never changes?

[Topics: Broken Promises, Forgiveness]

It has been another difficult few months for Blizzard Entertainment.  The long-awaited updated version of Warcraft 3 was launched but was quickly met with fan disappointment.  Upon release, a lot of the promised features were absent with little or no explanation given to those who had purchased the game.

Did Blizzard break their promise to fans in regards to this title?  How do we deal with broken promises we encounter in other areas of our lives?  And what should we do if we are ever guilty of breaking a promise ourselves?

[Topics: The Future, Trusting God]

A lot of interesting movies are coming out in the Summer of 2020.  These include Morbius, Wonder Woman 1984, and Black Widow.  What did our team think about the trailers for these upcoming films?  Do the trailers make you want to see these movies even more?

Also, trailers give us a preview of what a future movie may be like.  There are some situations that happen in life (ex. a medical report, job offer, or change in relationship status) which can also feel like we are getting a glimpse at what the future might hold for us.  How can we still maintain hope for a bright future regardless of whether the situations we encounter seem good or bad?

[Topics: Life-Changing Encounters; Encountering God]

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is a live-action series that takes place in the Star Wars universe.  It has earned a lot of praise from both critics & fans alike, and also spawned a ton of memes across the internet involving the ever-loveable "Baby Yoda".  What are our thoughts on the series?

And when the titular character "Mando" encounters a child in need, he makes a decision that will change both of their lives forever.  How do we respond when we encounter a life-changing situation?  How can we respond when encountering a God who desires to change our lives forever as well?

[Topic: Don't Let the Past Define You]

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been met with some mixed reviews.  What did our team think about this final entry in the most current set of Star Wars trilogies?

The movie also leaned heavily on the struggles some characters faced between the family they were born into and the path they wanted to personally take.  Have we ever felt this same struggle in our own lives?  How can we "own our past, but also not let it define us"?

"Clank!" is a popular game that combines a board game with card deck-building mechanics.  It is a favorite for many new gamers and seasoned veterans alike.    It also has several expansions and a recently released "Legacy" version to keep players occupied for a long time to come.

Does our team think this might be a game you would enjoy?  How can a key mechanic of the game "making Clank!" serve as an interesting metaphor for mistakes we may make in life?  And how do we think God responds to those mistakes if we choose to acknowledge what we have done and humbly ask for His help?

Happy New Year!  We kick off 2020 with our first dedicated Board Game segment.

DC  Deck-Building Game by Cryptozoic Entertainment is a very popular game that released a new version entitled "Rebirth" a few months back.  It is named after the recent comic book relaunch of DC Comics publishing.

How does this new version of the game compare to the previous version?  Does our team enjoy it more than the original?  And how does the important concept of "Rebirth" apply to our lives and faith, especially as we kick off a brand new year?

A few months ago it was announced that Spider-Man may no longer be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  Fans were distraught and almost immediately started to take sides as to who was at fault: Sony (owner of the Spider-Man film rights) or Disney (owner of the MCU).

We have since learned the great news that Spider-Man is indeed back in the MCU!  (Including some recent revelations on the unusual circumstances that help make that happen... we're looking at you Tom Holland).

This segment was originally recorded during the time when there was still some doubt about Spider-Man's future.  We discuss our thoughts about whether Spider-Man could survive outside of the MCU and also the danger in people being too hasty to take a side or make hasty judgments in conflicts.
