  • 007: Aligning Your Internal Running Season with Your Training Plan

Throughout your running journey there will be times in your life where running will take more or less of a priority. The demands of work and family will influence where your energy needs to be directed and what your capacity is to focus on it.

That’s the beauty of running. You get to decide what it will look like and what you’re willing to give to it at different points along your running path.

In this episode I’ll be talking about identifying your internal running seasons, how they’re different from what we know and understand to be the “four” seasons (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall), and why it’s important to set aside time regularly to assess, reassess and determine what internal running season you’re currently in, so that you’re able to strategically align your training plan to your internal running season, prevent burn out, inconsistency, and setting unrealistic expectations, that could cause you to struggle or get sidelined.

In this episode I’ll discuss why we need to examine our relationship with running just like we do with all the many people in our lives and how to discover ways to make adjustments with it, so that we look forward to showing up to meet our runs every week and create a much more enjoyable experience with it.
