  • 201: Lindsay Mayuga - Choose Your Hard

Even though I had a sense of comfort when I kept my head down, what I was really doing was front loading my own discomfort, for others.

I had a life of a slow drip discomfort and never really knew how bad I felt.

Today’s episode, I go on to discuss how I flipped that around. I chose to do the hardest things, the most uncomfortable things, the scariest things…for myself.

I risked a lot and I’m so glad I did because it made me and my life what it is today.

  • 200: Lindsay Mayuga - Longevity

    She Makes Waves 200th Episode

Longevity…are you looking at your life with blinders or a bird's eye view?

These days, I’m playing the longevity game and looking at my life with a birds eye view.

What am I doing now that I can say no to that will allow me to be in this game 10 years longer?

How do we create lives that can withstand day to day stressors and at the same time be putting ourselves in a position to win long term?

This is what I’m talking about in this week’s episode. I’m more interested in creating longevity than trying to do it all, and do it all right now. You feel me? Take a listen!

  • 199: Lindsay Mayuga - Is What You are Choosing, Choosing You?

Old Lindsay had the ‘Can’t stop, won’t stop’ mentality.

Present Lindsay has stopped…pulled back…felt the energy and then decided to keep pursuing or not.

Today’s episode I talk about how I allow the things, people, opportunities that I’m interested in to also see if they are choosing me. I don’t just decide I want it and go for it without reciprocity anymore. I feel my feeling, I read the energy and I assess the value.

Who are you more like? Old Lindsay or present Lindsay? Take a listen.

  • 198: Lindsay Mayuga - We Live and Learn Through Contrast

This week’s episode of She Makes Waves, I chat about how I've thought alot about the contrast, the yin and yang of life in the last couple years as I rebuilt my marriage, run the salon and spend time with my little girl.

Without the dark, would I be able to see the light as I do now?

I don’t believe we should let the past go and totally forget about bad things that have happened, but rather learn from it and allow it shine light on the good.

Take listen to my thoughts on this. I hope you’re able to allow the bad moments to illuminate the good ones.

  • 196: Jamie Dana & Piper De Young - It's happening... Ember Retreat

5 years ago I attended the very first Ember Retreat. At the time, there really wasn’t anything available to like minded hairstylists like it.

It was such an incredible experience for me during a pivotal point in my career. I had never invested in myself in that way. And I’m so happy to be back as a Mentor this time around.

This Episode we have Jamie Dana and Piper De Young here to talk about the upcoming Ember Retreat! We talk about how it came to be, what makes it SO special and what’s in store for this year’s attendees.

You don’t want to miss this!

  • 195: Lindsay Mayuga - Do You Need a Partner or Do You Need to OWN It?

Do I need a partner in this endeavor or do I just need to OWN it?

I remember feeling less afraid when I was going into owning my first salon with a partnership. And when it came down to the partnership ending, I can see where I never really needed one but maybe thought I did because of conditioning and feeling comfortable.

Today’s episode is breaking that down. Sometimes the influence of another in your passion can compromise what’s in your heart.

So if you’re struggling like I do with ideas or passions you want to pursue, take a listen. I hope it brings you more clarity.

  • 194: Megan Dunne Krouse - Come Home to Your Breath

Today’s episode is all about the power of breath. Our special guest, Megan Dunne Krouse, a yoga instructor that specialized in breath work.

Megan has been teaching for 25 years and she tells us her story of how she truly found breath work and incorporated it into her practice. She teaches how to use your breath for better sleep, nourishing yourself, better digesting, and moving through difficult things.

One of the most repeated pieces of advice I’ve heard to reduce stress and overwhelm while working in the salon, is to focus on your breath. But I’ve never actually been taught HOW to really allow the breath to heal. Spoiler alert, it's not just taking long deep breaths when you're feeling stressed out...take a listen as Megan brings us through an exercise to find our healing breath.

We hope you are able to return to your true breath, be intentional  + use it to its fullest potential.

  • 193: Lindsay Mayuga - Case Studies

I’ve reframed my thinking about mistakes or mishaps. Now I look at them as case studies.

Today’s episode is all about how doing so, I’ve been able to learn so much through these experiences. Often these case studies cost me a lot of money (ie. hiring my first assistant in the salon.) But I don’t learn from other people’s advice or warnings. I learn by my own case studies because, at the end of the day, my life is completely different then theirs.

Are you able to look back at your life ‘mishaps’ and see them as informative ‘case studies’ instead? Maybe this episode will help you reframe your thinking when something inevitably goes awry. Not only is it a learning experience, it helps me move through it.

  • 192: Lindsay Mayuga - Sayings I Swear By

I live my life by sayings + quotes. I pull a quote card every day. If you’ve been listening for a while, you know this about me. I'm always choosing to fill my mind with words of inspiration.

So for today’s episode, I want to share my favorites with you and how they help me.

Some of them help me in the salon, or through personal dilemmas or help me get through uncomfortable circumstances.

I hope some of these resonate with you as much as they do with me. What sayings do you live by?
