My husband and I had always said the driving force for our careers was not the financial reward, because we always knew that would eventually come. And I realized I don't want this to be misinterpreted as I don’t have to work or I don’t have to have money…

One of the biggest things I want for my daughter is for her to be who she is, wherever she is. 

Being myself is something I struggled with for a long time. I was always a chameleon, morphing into what I thought people wanted me to be. 

Have you ever noticed someone that you’ve been able to get to know, one on one, seems like a different person when they are within a group of others. Like do you even  know who that person really is?

Everytime you are putting on a facade…you’re living outside of who you are, outside of integrity. I hope with today’s episode, you’ll evaluate your relationships and encounters and determine if you’ve been able to be who you are.

Every morning when I wake up, I think about what I want to call into my life that day. Almost every day, I as for support and guidance and to allow the people that want to help me, to surround me.

Yet, so often, when it does show up for me, I deny it. 

Today’s episode of She Makes Waves, I recall a day that I turned down help twice…and when I finally accepted the help, it hit me…I wonder how often we are craving support but then when it shows up, we deny it. Why are we so quick to not let other people help us? Is it our ego?

I’ve learned that there are 3 major stops on the difficult times struggle bus:

1. Diminish the pain

2. Distract ourselves

3. Let it develop us

We tend to just dive deeper into delusions + distractions or… we wake up. 

Unless we let the pain teach us, we will continue to live the same story. We can’t outrun the pain so why not let it be your teacher?

Today’s episode I talk about my life’s journey from diminishing the pain, to distracting for years and then finally falling to my knees to let my pain show me what I needed to learn or change.

I thought it would be helpful to talk about something I brought up at an International Women’s Day event that I attended with 4 women who I admire SO much.

Asked a question, How do you know how to trust what it is you authentically bring and to let go of what isn’t, to fully step into the unknown but the inner knowing of what you’re called to do. Especially when you are comfortable. 

It was so inspiring to talk with these ladies about how they’ve managed to stay within their career but evolve into what they are meant to do.

This episode spun from a moment I had with my family, thinking I could lump life categories together. Let me explain…

I had planned to go for a run by myself and it turned into family walk time…I thought to myself, ‘great, this can fill 2 of my needs’’…but I actually found myself needing to go for a run on the treadmill by myself after the walk with the family when I got home.

Now this wasn’t something I didn’t want to do or wasn’t fun for me, because it was. But it wasn’t what I initially prepared myself for and it ended up creating more tension for me.

Are you showing your clients who you are and meeting them with whatever is, or are you putting on a show?

This week’s episode was inspired by Jay Shetty when I heard him speak about losing his initial passion and zest for the Facebook videos he used to post. He said after a while, it became a performance and stoped serving him. So he let that go.

I can relate to this being in the salon and putting on my own performance before I got honest with myself.
