Today we're talking about novels that focus on strict religious and cultural pressures and expectations placed on characters in YA. This has been popping up more and more and we find it endlessly fascinating. This is not extensive by any means, but we made an effort to talk about books from a diverse set of religious and cultural backgrounds.

We're talking about the shame and guilt that sometimes accompanies not finishing books, especially those books that you "should" read. We're not about that, but it took us a while to get there. Sometimes a book doesn't jive with you, or you're not in the right space to read it, or maybe there's another reason. The point is, if you're not enjoying a book, you don't *have* to finish it.
