In this episode, we dive into one of the most challenging aspects of weight loss: resisting immediate cravings in favor of your long-term goals. Losing weight requires saying no to instant gratification, but why is this so difficult?
Why It's So Hard
Many of the foods we're tempted by contain processed sugars and refined carbs that are deliberately designed to keep us coming back for more. These ingredients create addictive patterns in our brains, making it harder to stop snacking and easier to give in to cravings. Understanding this helps us recognize we're not just fighting willpower we're up against food science.
The Secret Weapon: Self-Control
Here's the truth that changes everything: God has given us the spirit of self-control. This isn't about relying solely on our own strength it's about tapping into the divine power available to us. When we feel weak or tempted, we can draw on this gift to make choices that honor our bodies and our goals.

You cannot overcome what you are not willing to be real about. In this episode, we're breaking down the three most common excuses that keep you from losing weight and more importantly, revealing what you're REALLY avoiding when you use them.
Discover the neuroscience behind your excuses and learn why your brain generates "logical" reasons to keep you stuck. From the amygdala's fear response to the neural pathways you've been strengthening without realizing it, this episode will help you understand what's happening in your brain when you say "I don't have time," "I don't know what to do," or "I don't have money."
It's time to stop avoiding and start transforming. 2026 is coming will you break the cycle?
In This Episode, You'll Learn:
The 3 most common weight loss excuses and practical solutions to overcome each one
Why "I don't have time" really means you haven't made it a priority (and how to change that)
How your amygdala, prefrontal cortex, and striatum work together to keep you stuck
What you're REALLY avoiding: fear of failure, identity threat, and emotional discomfort
Why neuroplasticity is working against you every time you make an excuse
The uncomfortable truth about food as emotional comfort and identity protection
How to rewire your brain for success through nervous system regulation
Key Takeaways:
✨ "You have time for what you prioritize. Most people spend 2-3 hours daily on their phone."
✨ "Confusion is often an excuse for inaction. Basic nutrition is not rocket science."
✨ "Your brain would rather use a socially acceptable excuse than force you to confront these deeper, more painful truths."
✨ "The excuses aren't the problem. The avoidance of emotional discomfort is. And the only way through is through."

This Thanksgiving, I experienced something that many of you might relate to. I was intentional about my health. I walked a lot, avoided snacking, and set a goal to lose just half a pound that week. But when I stepped on the scale after the holiday, I had gained 4 pounds.
I felt upset. I felt mad. But instead of giving up, I continued with my week as planned. I ate at home, focused on my nutrition, and within just four days, I had not only lost those 4 pounds, I lost the additional half pound I was originally going after.
My Lessons:
Overcoming Obesity: 4 Scriptures to Guide Your Journey
1. Prayer and Supplication (Philippians 4:6) "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God."
Bring your weight loss struggles to God. Don't carry the anxiety alone lay it at His feet with thanksgiving.
2. Faith Without Works is Dead (James 2:26) "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."
Prayer is essential, but you must also take action. Faith requires you to do your part make the healthy choices, move your body, and honor the temple God gave you.
3. Power, Love, and a Sound Mind (2 Timothy 1:7) "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
A sound mind means discipline, self-mastery, and self-control. God has already equipped you with everything you need to succeed on this journey.
4. Make the Vision Plain (Habakkuk 2:2) "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it."
Get clear on your vision. Write down your goals, make them specific, and keep them visible so you can run toward them with purpose.

Losing weight doesn't have to drain your wallet. In this episode, we break down practical, budget-friendly strategies for eating healthy, staying motivated, and exercising without spending a fortune. Whether you're just starting your weight loss journey or looking to cut costs while staying on track, this episode proves you can transform your health without breaking the bank.
Key TakeawaysEating Healthy on a Budget Contrary to popular belief, eating healthy can actually cost less than an unhealthy lifestyle. The secret is changing where and how you shop. Focus on shopping the perimeter of the grocery store where fresh produce, proteins, and whole foods live, and avoid the processed foods in the middle aisles. Cooking at home instead of eating out saves significant money while giving you control over your nutrition. Simple swaps like choosing water over soda can save both money and calories.
Free Motivation Resources Staying motivated doesn't require expensive coaches or programs. YouTube offers endless free content from experts like Dr. Berg and channels like Low Carb Love, plus inspiring weight loss transformation videos. Podcasts provide free education and encouragement during your commute or workout. Follow inspiring influencers like Temple Steward who share their journeys and tips at no cost.
Zero-Cost Exercise Options You don't need a gym membership to get fit. Bodyweight exercises like push-ups, squats, and planks require zero equipment and can be done anywhere. Walking or running outdoors is completely free and highly effective for weight loss. Your body is the only equipment you need to start building strength and burning calories.
Free Tracking Tools Technology can support your journey without subscription fees. The free version of Carb Manager helps you track your food intake and stay accountable. Don't underestimate the power of taking before and after pictures with your phone—they're free, motivating, and provide visual proof of your progress.
Bottom LineWeight loss on a tight budget isn't just possible—it can actually be easier than expensive alternatives. By focusing on whole foods, free resources, and bodyweight movement, you can achieve your health goals while keeping money in your pocket.
