Why A Podcast? There’s a few reasons I chose to start a podcast. First, not everyone has time to sit down and read a blog. I know my spare time is limited with working more than full-time, training for my next Strongman competition, working with my lifestyle coaching clients and writing this and other articles as a guest blogger. I listen to at least one podcast a day, especially on weekdays. I’ll listen in the shower and while I’m getting ready in the morning and I even sometimes listen while I’m working out. I love working out to music, but an inspiring speaker on a podcast is just as uplifting as Bon Jovi!
Another reason I am starting The Aging Youthful podcast is to reach more people with our message and I can easily do it with today’s technology. Each podcast episode will also become a blog post and I’m also toying with the idea of videoing the episodes (or selected ones) and uploading to YouTube. While I spend most of my social media time on Facebook and Instagram, I know there are other ways to reach people.
Is There Difference Between Aging Gracefully and Aging Youthfully?Absolutely and not really. (Nothing like covering my bases, right?). To me the phrase aging gracefully means accepting getting older, allowing the aging process to happen and accepting the theory your body is getting slower and weaker and it stops you from continuing to do things you used to because you’re “getting older”.
The difference between aging gracefully and aging youthfully, as mentioned in the intro above, at aging youthful we don’t let our age stop us from getting out there and doing what we love…we keep doing it DESPITE our age. We DO accept the fact we’ve had a handful (or more) decades of birthdays, respect it but just may have to do things a little differently than we did in our 20’s. BUT we don’t let us stop us. See the difference?
In Depth Interviews of People Living The Aging Youthful LifestyleThe most fun and exciting part of doing a podcast over a blog post is the live interviews! While a written Q & A is great, but hearing the voice of the person being interviewed, their excitement and their humor is something that just doesn’t come through with the written word. I’ve recorded my first interview of someone who inspires me every day to keep up with my aging youthful lifestyle. This lady got herself back into the gym at the young age of 65 and competed in her first bikini competition at the age of 68. YES, you read that right; SIXTY-EIGHT and now at age 70, she’s showing no signs of slowing down.
I have a few more people lined up and I am excited to have them on the show. If you know of someone who is not letting their age define them, and are killing it at life despite their age, I’d love to meet them. Send me a link to their social media profile so I can send them a message to see if they want to be on the show!
I’d love to hear from you, our reader and potential listener…what are the things you struggle with as you have come into your 50’s and beyond? In addition to people who are living the aging youthful lifestyle, I’m on the lookout for other people to interview who are doing incredible things in health and wellness for those of us who’ve had a few (OK a lot) of rides around the sun. It can be someone in healthcare, fitness, skin care…you name it. Again, send me a DM on social media, shoot me an email or comment below with their name and how I can reach them.
Thank You Emily Anderson For Our Music!I want to give a HUGE moment of gratitude to musician Emily Anderson for allowing me to use the instrumentals from her song Lost and Found. When I first heard the song, I fell in love with the funky, upbeat strings. I first met Emily when she came to my fitness classes, and loved the torture. She was so crazy, she even requested burpees! lol This past winter, Emily left her secure day job and began following HER passion for music full-time. I wish her great success and someday I know I will be able to say "I knew her when.". Thanks again Emily, I know my listeners are going to love your music as much as I do!
Thanks for tuning in! Be sure to share this episode with anyone who could use the message we are sharing. I'd also appreciate it if you would take a couple of moments to leave a heartfelt review to help us fulfill our mission of creating a tribe of middle - agers and above giving the youngsters a run for their money! See you next week and in the meantime, age youthfully my friends!
