This episode of Shift Happened is a rollercoaster of comedy, controversy, and questionable giraffe fashion. The big news? Theo Vaughn is bringing his mullet and madness to Rapid City! The crew dives into their favorite (and least favorite) comedians, gets sidetracked trying to remember Brian Regan’s name, and debates whether George Carlin’s test set was comedy gold… or just coal.
Then it’s off to the wild world of de-extinction — dire wolves, woolly mammoths, and the possibility of Loch Ness bubbles. Is Nessie real? Has Bigfoot been riding shotgun this whole time? Science (and Stitch) have opinions.
Later, societal norms get absolutely wrecked. Should you bless someone when they sneeze? Is it rude to eat before your friend’s food arrives? And what does it really mean to double text? Plus, one of the team refuses to ever learn how to tie a tie — on principle.
It’s your favorite afternoon shifters unfiltered and unapologetic, covering everything from dodo birds to Dixon flannels. Strap in, because this shift definitely happened.

AI clones, peanut butter politics, and purse-clutching paranoia—just another afternoon on The Second Shift! This episode of Shift Happened is packed with hilariously weird conundrums, from Houston’s voice-cloning experiment to the team’s very serious debate on whether Reese’s should dare add jelly. Plus, we talk dire wolves, drones with moth noses, the most yell-inducing jobs, and the ageless mystery of Bart Simpson. Oh, and Stitch tries to say “Moroccan oil.” Emphasis on tries.
Get ready for awkward alley etiquette, AI trust issues, and a heated argument about resumes that ends exactly how you'd expect. Is it the real crew or their AI doppelgängers? Tune in and see if you can tell the difference.

It’s a classic Monday on Shift Happened, and the mood is just as all-over-the-place as the topics. Houston kicks things off in a funk because—brace yourself—it’s too nice outside. That spirals into a discussion about seasonal affective disorder in reverse, the emotional impact of too many windows, and why blackout curtains are apparently worth fighting about.
From there, it only gets weirder. The crew debates whether anyone could realistically outrun a chicken, discovers that 2% of people think they could beat a horse in a race, and learns about a man in Nevada who had seven emotional support tigers. AI is now being tested as a therapist, Minecraft moviegoers are turning theaters into war zones, and someone out there just did 10,001 pull-ups in 24 hours — because that’s apparently a thing people do.
There’s also a passionate defense of The Jungle Book, a weekend wine and food fest in Deadwood, and a negotiation hack involving the word “because” that might just change your life… or at least help you get someone to refill your water bottle.
It’s chaotic, it’s oddly therapeutic, and it’s definitely the kind of Monday show that only Shift Happened can deliver.

This week on Shift Happened, the crew is back with a wildly entertaining episode filled with trash bags, hot tubs, and... Easter potatoes? It’s Rapid City Cleanup Week, and Stitch, Leslie, and Houston are already plotting costumes to make their civic duty a bit more fabulous. Meanwhile, a missing free throw letter has Stitch spiraling, and the gang reflects on how badly they performed last year.
We dive into Youth & Family Services’ massive Kids Fair, reminisce about lost summer volunteer emails, and discover how painting potatoes might just save your wallet this Easter. Also, drama brews over a bottle of rare Irish whiskey “borrowed” by some bigwigs in the building, prompting Houston to ask: AITA?
Plus, AI music composition makes its way into the studio with Doomed Pair of Stars—an original celestial-metal masterpiece that sounds suspiciously like Dio and Rush had a synth-heavy baby. And don't miss the D&D dice drama, nightly supplement rituals, and Stitch’s not-so-secret love of dancing in public.
All that, plus the weekend’s hottest rock show and some oddly satisfying chamomile-fueled therapy. It’s weird, it’s wild, and it’s Shift Happened.

It’s a 50% power kind of day on The Second Shift—but Houston and Stitch are holding down the fort with maximum nostalgia and a whole lot of laughs. We kick things off with a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Val Kilmer, sharing favorite movie moments from Tombstone to Batman Forever, and Stitch drops a surprisingly emotional story about sneaking off to see the Caped Crusader solo at just nine years old.
Then, it’s a trip down memory lane with McDonald’s Happy Meals, from glass collector cups to the new Minecraft takeover. We talk dog scritches, the science behind the leg kick, and Stitch gives a health update on his miracle pup. Plus, we unpack the myth of introverts in radio, throw some shade at radiologists’ insane salaries, and debate the name "Celestial Seed".
Also in this episode: sunflower seed strategies for sleepy drivers, kids' fairs for grownups, Cory Booker's epic 25-hour speech, and a man who ran on a treadmill for 24 hours. This one’s got heart, weird facts, and just the right amount of chaos.

We didn’t plan on starting the show with sweaty eggs, but here we are. A casual chat about Dean’s backyard chickens turned into a lesson on egg storage, pasteurization, and the strange science of egg sweat. That somehow led us straight into Easter territory, with a taste test of cotton candy Peeps and a dive into the sticky, spun-sugar history of cotton candy itself.
Then the governor showed up—literally. We had to relocate mid-show to make room, which felt like the perfect excuse to crank up the weird. From a man in Australia arrested for ordering plutonium online to a plumber in Indiana sabotaging a restaurant’s pipes, the second half of the show was full of strange, borderline unbelievable stories.
We also talked about zombie spiders infected by brain-controlling fungus, the ethical nightmare of lab-grown headless human bodies, and a true story about a babysitter who found a man hiding under a child’s bed. We wrapped things up with a quick preview of Mountain West Fiesta Fest and our tequila-filled plans for April.

Get ready for another wild ride on The Second Shift, where Mark Houston, Leslie Lane, and Stitch take you through an unpredictable mix of local news, life hacks, sports debates, and... fried mushroom music? Yeah, it gets weird. This episode features a big announcement about the launch of the Rapid City Post—a brand-new, totally free, no-paywall news site bringing you all the latest from Western South Dakota. Plus, we dive into the weird world of baseball acronyms, explore the mysterious allure of breast milk ice cream, and ponder why baseball pants might be the real reason people love the game.
And don't miss Mark’s plan to take "The Second Shift" outdoors and the heated debate over whether Filet-O-Fish should be cooked to order. From trash TV to mushroom symphonies and ice-cold beer tech, this episode is jam-packed with all the things you never knew you needed.
