Listen to these powerful words that families can talk to an addict about – “We love you so much that we will not SUPPORT your addiction”! Please join me and share this powerful episode.

About the guest – Candace Plattor, author of Loving an Addict, Loving Yourself: The Top 10 Survival Tips for Loving Someone with an Addiction, knows from personal experience what it means to be an addict. Within a year of being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 1973, she found herself in the throes of prescription drug addiction. Her Crohn’s Disease diagnosis came at a time when the medical community had a very limited understanding of the disease and how to treat it. As a result, the treatment included some very addictive medications such as Valium, Demerol and Codeine, which she took faithfully for a number of years. Additionally, she discovered that marijuana took away a lot of her physical pain and helped her escape from feelings of powerlessness, hopelessness, and isolation. In no time at all, she became a daily pot smoker and had one more addiction to deal with. And when she ran out of pot, she abused alcohol. After more than 14 years of abusing substances, she reached “bottom” in 1987. Thus began her journey of recovery and self-discovery. In Loving an Addict, Loving Yourself: The Top 10 Survival Tips for Loving Someone with an Addiction, Ms. Plattor draws from her experience as an addict, as well as from the stories of those she continues to help in her practice, to uncover the reality of loving someone with an addiction. All too often, people with an addicted loved one in their lives will neglect themselves in an attempt to “help”. But, as Ms. Plattor points out in her book, this is a lose-lose situation that doesn’t help the addict at all. Instead, loved ones must make their own needs a priority and learn to focus on their own self-care. Ms. Plattor graduated from the Adler School of Professional Psychology with a Masters degree (M.A.) in Counselling Psychology, in 2001. For over 20 years in her private practice, she’s been helping clients and their loved ones understand their addictive behaviors and make healthier life choices.

As a Career Management professional, I serve as a career coach and mentor to those in career transition. I have the privilege of working with many talented and successful individuals, providing placement services to individual contributors, managers and senior executives. In my podcast, WE Have Cancer - https://wehavecancershow.com - I've interviewed hundreds of patients, caregivers and medical professionals as a way to provide information, inspiration and hope to those touched by cancer.

About the guest:
Nim Stant - I came from the third-world country of Thailand, from a lower-middle-class family. I didn't have an MBA or go to business school. I'm just a regular person like you who has a dream, trying to walk every day of my life with great intention. What I learn is based on my life experience and so much of my stories about the challenges on the personal and professional levels. I think it applies to many different types of people from all walks of life.
My journey began as a classical Thai dancer at a very young age and has continued this path for over twenty years. I went to India and learned Indian Classical Dance for my Master's degree and have become a very well-known Asian-Contemporary dancer and choreographer in Asia. I am also a devoted Ashtanga yoga practitioner and experienced yoga teacher/influencer for over 15 years. I love teaching yoga and seeing the meaningful change in people's lives.
In 2015, I became a founder of Yoga Business Mastery and taught Yoga Business Teacher Training programs, advanced yoga workshops, hosted yoga retreats at my retreat center, Samadhi Retreat Center in Thailand, and coached countless yoga teachers and yoga studio owners to improve their business success. In 2020, I founded Go All In media and committed to teaching the world the art of truly living an extraordinary, fulfilling, joyful, prosperous life. I believed that "Our lives are part of a bigger plan that the universe has for us. We need to seek it, believe in it, and live every day with full intention. We can achieve anything we want and mean to be." The end goal for my life is to "leave a legacy."
My joy is to wake up every day, spend time with my family and my two children, Sam and Sariah, and live life with the fullest potential. I believe you also can do the same.
