Shit Talk Reviews

The trifecta of Shit Talk procrastination finally sat down to talk about Visioning, the latest album from Patriarchs In Black. In their third full length release, the duo of Dan Lorenzo (CASISUS KING, DAN LORENZO SOLO BAND, HADES, VESSEL OF LIGHT, NON-FICTION, THE CURSED) and Johnny Kelly (TYPE O NEGATIVE, DANZIG and A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH among others) have dropped another strong ode to one of the original masters of metal, Black Sabbath. As with their last album My Veneration, the team brought in a slew of heavy hitters to contribute on this album. It’s a fun listen, complete with classic Lorenzo riffs and a few surprises along the way!

There’s a bunch of great feels in the tracks, with each guest musician contributing their own style to the project. It’s a long list with Mark Sunshine (RIOTGOD, UNIDA,) Karl Agell (ex-COC), Darryl McDaniel (RUN DMC,) Rob Traynor, Kelly Abe, Frankie Diaz, Kyle Thomas (EXHORDER, AORTHA, ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY,) and Jason McMaster (WATCH TOWER, CASSIUS KING, EVIL UNITED) all contributing vocals throughout the album. Iron Lou, Dave Neabore (DOG EAT DOG,) Johnny Araya, Sal Iuvara, Eric Morgan (A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH, FIRST ORDER) and Eazy Ezekiel provide bass and there’s even a DJ spinning this time around; Jason Donnelly (DJ PUZZLE.)

The guys were psyched to chat with one of the top riff and songwriters in the metal game today: Blake Ibanez of Power Trip and Fugitive. With a right hand like Papa Hetfield and a songwriting pen like Mustaine, Blake's work keeps the metal genre strong with killer playing and songcraft.

Drop in on the conversation and see what's happening in Blake's world. THen head over to https://www.shittalkreviews.com for all the reviews, interviews and other nonsense. You're sure to be disappointed, but we will give you stickers, so there's that.

Numetal mainstays P.O.D. have dropped their 11th album Veritas on May 3rd and John and David J finally got around to talking about it. If you’re looking for an ethereal journey through space and time, this might not be the album for you. But if you’re looking to swing to some familiar and comfortable rock rap, you’re going to dig this record.

This episode the Shit Talk triumvirate yak about Schizophrenia, the latest album from Cavalera Conspiracy. Of course, as the majority of the content on the record was first released in 1987 by Sepultura, one could be forgiven for saying it’s technically a Sepultura album. In any case, the Brothers Cavalera have dropped a freshly re-recorded version that includes two new tracks written by Max and it’s a stunner.

Derek sets himself up for a beatdown by either Rhianna or Max’s lovely wife Gloria, David is selling of his celebrity wardrobe and John is on the lookout for some Rototoms. Grab a cold one and sit down with the jackwagons for a chat about the re-recorded Schizophrenia.

Feel free to drop by https://www.shittalkreviews.com for some sticker swag, leave the guys a voicemail and check out the other album review conversations and interviews.

This episode the guys talk about Death Is Little More, the super powerful new album from Hartford based crushers Boundaries. If you’re down with high octane dissonance, bruising riffs and heartfelt lyrics, this is absolutely an album worth checking out. It’s a wonderful bit of music.

In discussing the album and the powerful lyrical content, the guys touch on mental heath and the importance of self care. If you’re struggling with anything or just need to talk to someone about your problems or the issues that you’re facing, don’t be ashamed to reach out for help.  There are many resources available (some of them for free.) While they’re not a sponsor, Better Help can be a great starting point for you. https://www.betterhelp.com/

This time around Derek got progged over the head. And he liked it!

Charismatic Leaders is the third release from Finland’s progmetal gurus Wheel.  As the resident Shit Talk prog guy, John wanted to bring it to the table. The album is great and is covered with just enough frosting for Derek (the resident thrash guy) to dig it too; the consensus is that if you dig the metal but are new to the progressive side of things, you might dig this as well.

John and Derek sat down this time around to do the Devil’s Work. (Or rather, to chat about Kerry King’s new album From Hell I Rise.) It’s all Kerry King, but with enough touches of the Slayer to keep the diehard fans into it. It’s got so much power that Derek wants to run back to the woods in Vermont and start throwing beer kegs around if that’s any indication… It’s a strong record and definitely worth checking out.

It’s a “West-Coast-reverbed-out-surf-punk-with-tight-and-bouncy-Britrock” kind of week as the guys talk about Cold World, the latest release from L.A. based Death Lens. An album filled with ear worms, great production and big energy, the Shit Talk triumvirate get into it.

You know where the STR site is, but we’re gonna remind you again anyway: https://www.shittalkreviews.com is where you can check out all the reviews, interviews and whatnot, grab yourself a sticker pack and learn how to drive a stick shift.
