In this episode I'm joined by my friend and fellow Brit oleh Rabbi Menachem Salasnik to shmooze about his recently released book Words Change Worlds. Refreshingly, he speaks openly and honestly about his very personal journey of discovering that he had a problem with speaking lashon hara and negative speech. Written in a warm, engaging and informal way, Words Change Worlds contains deep insights, uplifting stories and fascinating real-life cases that will challenge and inspire readers on the topic of shmirat halashon, an important and often neglected area of self-growth.

Like many in our generation I'm a massive fan and student of the late great Rabbi Jonathan Sacks zt"l. In these days of Israel's existential war against Iran's axis of evil, Rabbi Sacks' poignant, relevant and morally clear voice is of course sadly and painfully absent, a voice we would seek out in good and troubling times when we were blessed with his presence in this world.

So I invited my learned friend Rabbi Johnny Solomon, himself a dedicated and knowledgeable student of Rabbi Sacks' and his teachings, to the Shmoozin' studio with a simple question: what would Rabbi Sacks be saying now? I found the shmooze very fascinating and deeply insightful and helpful in these challenging times. I hope you do too.

ABOUT MY GUEST RABBI JOHNNY SOLOMON

Rabbi Johnny Solomon is the Chief Learning Officer (CLO) of WebYeshiva.org  where he works as #theVirtualRabbi offering online spiritual coaching and halachic consultations sessions to men, women and couples. Beyond this, Rav Johnny lectures for Matan, Herzog College and Melton, he writes a popular daily insight on daf yomi, he is contributor to the RZWeekly podcast, he officiates at weddings under the auspices of Tzohar, and he is a posek to his local shul in Even Shmuel.

In today's show I had the great pleasure to shmooze with fellow Brit oleh Dov Newmark, a guy who passionately lives and breathes Aliyah! He's the first Aliyah Consultant I've ever met and highly recommend people out there to use his unique services and connections when taking the big plunge to move and come home to Israel 🇮🇱 💙

ABOUT MY GUEST DOV NEWMARK

Born and raised in the UK, living in East London, Dov grew up within the Bnei Akiva youth movement so Aliyah was always a talking point. It was always just a matter of when! In the Summer of 2008 together with his wife Ayala and 3 daughters (12, 10 & 5) the Newmark’s made Aliyah to Modiin. In January 2009 Dov started working at Nefesh B’Nefesh and in the 15 years he was there helped over 6000 people make Aliyah from the UK. In June of 2023 Dov went independent and started his own Aliyah consultancy business, called Make Aliyah Easy, focusing on Aliyah from the UK.
