Nat Burton has recently transitioned from WNBL player to an Assistant Coach at the hot shooting Perth Lynx.

Transferring her knowledge and skills from her own lived experience in challenging her mindset throughout her professional career, she is now using that in assisting perhaps the most besieged WNBL team in Covid times at the Lynx.

Always open and honest in sharing her own experiences throughout her career, as a WNBL player, Opal and in international leagues, Nat understands the great value that mindset and accountability of that in achieving results and joy as an athlete.

She has built her mindset and athlete wellbeing business, journalling her struggles and sharing that with elite athletes as well as junior associations to create healthier cultures both at the professional level and at the grass roots for strong foundations.

Fleur McIntyre is only the 5th female to Coach in the NBL. She's joined the NBL Sydney Kings as Assistant Coach and is loving the opportunity to turn her academic knowledge in exercise and sport science from her role as an Assoc. Professor in Fremantle, into the high octane world of men's professional basketball.

With extensive coaching experience in both Men’s and Women’s Basketball, including the Womens National Basketball League, Fleur has a wealth of hoops IQ. 

With a clear focus on player development her experience provides a two-way learning that's the Kings’ X-factor. In ‘building the Kingdom’ the Kings have embraced a savvy and joyful collaborator in Fleur.

A genuine love for the crew she works with is evident, her insights into players and culture is fascinating and you’ll want to save this episode for repeat listening.

The I Am A Girl program is shooting for the stars with the goal of reaching 10,000 girls and women across NSW during the three year program. The program aims to engage girls and reconnect women, whether through playing, officiating or in administrative roles to build the foundations for sustainable growth in a popular sport.

Two remarkable supporters of Women's Hoops Karen Irwin and Rachel Herrick from Basketball NSW join us to talk about travelling the miles and shaping #NextGen Women's Hoops through this amazing grass roots initiative of the FIBA Womens World Cup Legacy.

Also on the radar is keeping participants connected more broadly in order to bridge the strong grass roots communities to the wider Womens Hoops family.

In the quest to reach their long term vision Kaz and Rach are candid in sharing some challenges, as well as the joy and hopes to get there.

Abby Bishop is a formidable talent in Aussie Women's Hoops. Having achieved 3 WNBL Championships with the UCCaps and a WNBA ring as well. 

Known across the global hoops landscape from the USA to Europe, her return home to Australia with the Southside Flyers this season had her playing incredible basketball.

Recently her season was cruelly halted with a tear in her soleus muscle just before an Opals camp for the FIBAWWC Qualifiers. Abby has begun the long and sometimes boring rehab journey with the aim to get back to the remarkable form she was enjoying. 

Back in her homeland with daughter Zala alongside, she's finding joy in hoops again and like her free flowing game is happy to see where it leads.

The Caz and Daz Show is a podcast on British Women’s Basketball, and it’s a real treat to chat with them about UK Hoops, the professional women’s league WBBL, and the huge growth in participation rates amongst GB youth.

Great Britain narrowly missed out on the Tokyo Olympics. Both our nations, while positioned differently have much in common. We explore this further, including the familiar challenges of maximising the sports exposure through viewership and much needed funding.

Their passion and love of hoops mirrors our own, we get a glimpse into the UK scene and it would be awesome to see our nations’ compete in hoops raising the profile of the sport to be a global powerhouse that it richly deserves.

Bevan Murray gives us the scoop on the Kiwi Hoops revolution

As Auckland Dream General Manager Bevan gives us a look at the seismic shift happening in New Zealand women’s hoops sharing his insights into the opportunities while embracing the uncertainty and challenges they bring for fans in the community.

Our closest neighbours are reaching out to youth through their Strength & Adapt program and rolling out a completely revamped women’s league starting in July 2022 that harnesses this growth and develops the amazing talent from the land of the long white cloud. 

These changes in NZ hoops bring significant developments for the Tall Ferns and a boon for #womenshoops that will ripple across the Tasman to our shores.
