The cold snap has just about passed, with a yellow weather alert for low temperature/ice in place for Clare and the rest of the country expiring at noon today.
The cold weather has seen countless services impacted throughout Ireland, with school closures in counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Carlow, Kilkenny and Laois.
Snowfall last weekend saw train and bus services in Clare cancelled or delayed, while water and electricity outages were experienced right across the county due to subzero temperatures.
With this level of disruption to our lives caused by the bitterly cold conditions, the question must be asked, does Ireland need to be better prepared for extreme weather conditions?
To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Bodyke Fine Gael TD and former Councillor, Joe Cooney and Quilty Fianna Fáil Councillor, Michael Shannon.
