Every decade can be defined by the music splashed across the airwaves. In the 1950s it was bebop. The sixties ushered in the British Invasion. While the nineties saw the rise of Seattle-based guitar-fueled grunge. But before that, in the seventies and eighties, a new sound was coming out of New York. It captured the gritty rebellious-ness of a city that never slept. One, that was on the cutting edge of underground culture. And now, one of the scenes' main influencers has released a book which captures the spirit of those days like never before.

Everything has a price. And whatever you do, you need money to fund your endeavours. And the UK's most prestigious literary prize The Man Booker Prize for Fiction is not exempt from this. Early this year, all hell broke loose after Man Group ended their sponsorship of 18 years. Even questions about renaming it came to surface. But the committee for UK's most revered prize for fiction says all will be well in due course.

Prado Museum turns 200

The music industry's biggest awards were handed out Sunday night in Los Angeles. Unlike the Golden Globes, the #MeToo and 'Time's Up' movements figured prominently both during the awards ceremony, as well as who dominated both the nominations and the winners.

To learn more about the winners, losers and the studs of this year's Grammy Awards, Showcase is joined by music journalist Hugh McIntyre, who was there at the big night at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Throughout this entire year, Spain is staging celebrations marking two hundred years of a national treasure: the Prado Museum. The Prado has one of the world's finest collections of European art - including masterpieces by Velázquez, Goya and El Greco hanging on its walls. They and many others are all part of a new exhibition titled 'A Place of Memory'. And it's the starting point to kick off the museum's bicentenary celebrations.
