Every Wednesday evening - at 7:00 pm Mountain Time - I host a wonderful meditation group. It's free and you should check it out with the link below. We close each meeting with a short reading from The Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh, and last night's reading - from page 111! - is so beautiful and important, I wanted to share it with you here. Hope you enjoy it!

In today's episode, I discuss the importance of focusing on our own well-being in all of our relationships.
Next time, we'll discuss how this inner focus helps us to foster heathy boundaries, set and bolstered with Self-Compassion.
Today's episode is a follow-up to the last so I can mention one thing I forgot and also introduce another idea about the story in our minds and how it deepens the victim mentality. And the swimmer whose name I couldn't remember is Michael Phelps.
In today's episode, I discuss the connection between stress (Not only your own, but that of your parents and grandparents) and the victim mentality.
As social creatures - an aspect we share with all mammals on Earth - every micromoment is an opportunity to return to well being through relating to others. Any time, anywhere. Mindfulness practices develop the skills to do so.
In today's episode, I come back to the basics of stress and how it factors into the Body > Emotion > Thought cycle I talked about the other day.
Today's impromptu and totally unscripted episode was inspired by this fantastic new youtube channel I recently found:

Today I talk about how mindfulness develops within us the skill of being aware of our moment-by-moment awareness and what that means for stress and happiness.
For many years I tried to learn to cook by finding amazing recipes and struggling to master them.
In the process, I experienced many smoke alarms and lots of rice stuck to the bottoms of many pots.
In today's episode, I talk about how it was during the pandemic, as I steamed broccoli, cooked rice, and scrambled eggs for my kids every day that I actually learned to cook the complex and exciting meals I now master with no smoke alarms.
Mindfulness practices are a lot like this, as well.
Have a listen and let me know what you think!
Here we are - back so soon with an impromptu episode!
Two reasons for this surprise recording:
First, my son provided me an excellent opportunity to practice mindful parenting yesterday and I thought someone might need to hear this story.
Second, I'm offering a 6-week course in mindful parenting that starts next week. If you're interested in learning more - including the ridiculously affordable tuition - click here or copy and paste into your browser:
