    Nathan Ehrlich M.A. is a freelance multimedia Journalist. After attaining his Masters degree from the Columbia Journalism School he very quickly realized his style was not suited to the rapid daily news cycle and became more attracted to making longer form and meditative human interest pieces. He is currently working on a feature-length documentary, The Wounded Healer, a film about the New York City based photographer, instrumentalist, shaman, and agoraphobic, Michael Reed. He is also working on a first novel based on his life called, Jeremy’s Journal, a story told through the diaries of a teenage boy diagnosed with Leukemia.

    His work has appeared, among other places, in the Boston Globe, Backpacker Magazine, Audubon Magazine, and the podcast, Israel Story. When Ehrlich is not producing journalism he is working as a paralegal, training to be a therapist, traveling, and attending healing ceremonies. He lives in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn with his wife Shula, and female cats, Apple and Tigresse.

    Patrick Kelly, M.D. is a child and adolescent psychiatrist at The David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. He completed both his general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and is a Board Certified practitioner in both fields. After practicing as an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and directing the training program in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, he moved back home to California and now directs Emergency Services and Consultation Liaison Services for Child Psychiatry at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, a UCLA affiliate hospital in Torrance, CA. His research is focused on the emergency management of children and adolescents, and in pediatric delirium on the inpatient medical units. He has co-authored 2 books about specific topics: “Borderline Personality Disorder, New Reasons for Hope” and “Adolescent Depression, A Guide for Parents.”

He is a clinical associate in the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke Medicine and a consulting associate in the department of Community & Family Medicine at Duke Medicine. Dr. Vaishnavi is also the co-author of The Traumatized Brain: A Family Guide to Understanding Mood, Memory & Behavior After Brain Injury” (Johns Hopkins University Press 2015) with Vani Rao, MD.


    Dr. Vaishnavi earned his BS in Biology from Georgia Institute of Technology, his PhD in Cognitive Science from the University of Alabama, and his MD in Psychiatry from the University of Alabama. He completed a residency in Psychiatry at Duke University, a residency in Clinical Psychopharmacology at Duke University and GlaxoSmithKline, and a fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Vaishnavi is board-certified in Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties, as well as board-certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Vaishnavi recently completed a Visiting Fellowship in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation at Duke University.

    Adam Gazzaley, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor in Neurology, Physiology and Psychiatry at the UC San Francisco, the founding director of the Neuroscience Imaging Center, and director of the Gazzaley Lab. His lab’s most recent studies explore neuroplasticity and how we can optimize our cognitive abilities via engagement with custom-designed video games, and how this can be bolstered by closed loop systems using neurofeedback and transcranial electrical stimulation. Dr. Gazzaley is co-founder and Chief Science Advisor of Akili Interactive, a company developing therapeutic video games. He has filed multiple patents based in his research, authored over 110 scientific articles, and delivered over 450 invited presentations around the world. Dr. Gazzaley has received many awards and honors, most recently the 2015 Society for Neuroscience – Science Educator Award.


    His laboratory studies neural mechanisms of perception, attention and memory, with an emphasis on the impact of distraction and multitasking on these abilities. His unique research approach utilizes a powerful combination of human neurophysiological tools, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG) and transcranial magnetic and electrical stimulation (TMS & TES). A major accomplishment of his research has been to expand our understanding of alterations in the aging brain that lead to cognitive decline. His most recent studies explore neuroplasticity and how we can optimize our cognitive abilities via engagement with custom-designed video games, and how this can be bolstered by closed loop systems using neurofeedback and TES. Dr. Gazzaley is co-founder and Chief Science Advisor of Akili Interactive, a company developing therapeutic video games, and is also a co-founder and Chief Scientist of JAZZ Venture Partners, a venture capital firm investing in experiential technology to improve human performance. Additionally, he is a scientific advisor for over a dozen technology companies including GE and Nielsen. His research and perspectives have been consistently profiled in high-impact media, such as The New York Times, New York Times Magazine, New Yorker, Wall Street Journal, TIME, Discover, Wired, PBS, NPR, CNN and NBC Nightly News.
