We keep this chapter of Sibling Library because we have a very special announcement. Until next month, let's keep reading, sharing, and repeating.
In this spooky chapter, we discuss the popular Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz. We read the first in this series as well as talk about the 2019 movie adaptation of the same name. We also take a moment to talk through our thoughts in the film version of Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us.
In this chapter, we answer literary related questions.
In this chapter we give some appreciation to the movie and the book of the same name: The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. Despite this being one of our collective favorite childhood movie, none of us had ever read the book and decided to rectify this while also celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1984 movie classic. Join in on The Neverending Story.
In this chapter, we discuss our summer reading/yearly challenge progress and being in a bit of a reading rut at the same time.
In this chapter, we discuss all things Anne of Green Gables including a trip report to Anne country on Prince Edward Island in Canada. We also revisit the Eyes and the Impossible with a review of a book signing with the author Dave Eggers and illustrator Shawn Harris. We also give you a warning to get ready to read and watch The Never Ending Story for our August episode to celebrate the movie turning 40.
In this chapter, we let you know about a newish service at the Oakland International Airport to help with your literary travel needs as well. We also dive back in to the world of Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us with its sequel It Starts with Us. Finally, in honor of the upcoming Free Comic Book day on the first Saturday in May we give our thoughts on Jeff Lemire's Sweet Tooth and what comics we are hoping to pick up this year.
Back for another fun conversation, we welcome author Emily Waters to the show to discuss her new book Two Is a Pattern from YLVA publishing. We open the show with a review of the 2024 Newbery Medal winner: The Eyes and the Impossible by Dave Eggers and get a quick review of the sequel to the 2020 Newbery Medal winner New Kid by Jerry Craft: Class Act from friend of the show, Riley. We end sharing our thoughts and frustrations with the book club app Fable as well as discuss our current selection, Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Let's keep reading, sharing, and repeating.
This month we discuss the 2023 Goodreads Choice Award winner for historical fiction as well as debut novel: Weywardby Emilia Hart. We talk through our thoughts about the genre, the characters, the story. We go deep so be warned there are spoilers ahead if you want to read the book first and come back to this one.
First, we take a quiz to learn which animal would be our familiar. We also tease a special guest for next month: Emily Waters. Emily will be joining us to discuss her new book Two is a Pattern available now so go grab a copy!
