What could Bon Jovi possibly tell us about Joshua 6?

What could Bon Jovi possibly tell us about Joshua 6?

In this message, we explore Joshua’s powerful encounter with the mysterious “Commander of the Lord’s army”—a divine figure who appears with a drawn sword. This moment raises deep questions about God's presence, purpose, and our response to Him.

We reflect on three key questions:

Who is the Commander of the Lord’s army?

What does His answer of “neither” mean when Joshua asks whose side He’s on?

Why is worship foundational to obedience?

This sermon invites us into deeper faith and surrender, reminding us that God doesn’t simply take sides—He takes over. It’s a call to align our lives not with human agendas, but with God’s greater will.

This Sunday we will continue looking at the Book of Joshua. This week's passage brings us to an honestly uncomfortable yet profoundly important moment in Israel's story. In Joshua 5, we encounter a text that challenges us but also invites us to see God's work through New Testament eyes. What does it mean to be set apart for Him? How does discomfort lead to deeper trust? Join us as we explore the surprising comfort found in obedience and preparation for God's promises.
