Today we talk through the Christmas and New Year period and what 2024 looks like.  We also speak of the tragic death of a South Australian Police Officer and the importance of starting conversations around mental health in the police.

To celebrate or perhaps take your mind away from family, we present the Christmas Day tragedy of 1893. Henry Oxley was a loving and committed husband to Emma and they had 3 children. With a new fruit business and over $200 000 in savings in the bank, how could it all go so pear-shaped and end with the entire family being murdered on Christmas morning?

James Cleghorn was a "beautiful, gentle soul" who, at 16, had the world before him. He loved nothing more than playing his guitar, video games, hanging out with his mates and dreamt of becoming a lawyer or a pilot. That's what makes it all the more tragic when he was brutally murdered in his family home in Wagga Wagga, NSW; a devastating death at the hands of a violent domestic abuser.

Today we continue on from Part 1 and talk about the execution of what Stephen Bradley believed to be the perfect crime - kidnapping an 8 year old for £25,000. Will everything go to plan, or will Bradley's arrogance be his downfall?  

In 1959 construction of the iconic Sydney Opera House began, numerous errors and lack of due diligence saw the build go significantly over budget. The solution? The Sydney Opera House lottery, where for £3 you went into the draw for £100,000 (over 5 million dollars in today's money!).  One of the lucky winners was the Thorne family but little did they know that this win would make their son Graeme a target of kidnapping for ransom  by the arrogant and devious Stephen Bradley.  This was the first ever kidnapping for ransom case in Australia's history and one that would steal the country's innocence.
