With the November employment report showing 27,300 jobs added last month, Governor Ducey today announced that Arizona has now gained back the total number of jobs lost during the pandemic. Arizona is just the third state in the nation to reach full employment recovery. Nationally, the U.S. has recovered 83% of jobs lost since last year. The November report also showed a decline in the unemployment rate from 5.2% to 4.7%, which ties a ten-year low reached in 2019. The Verde Ranger District (VRD) of the Prescott National Forest (PNF) is proposing the Verde Recreation Action Plan (VRAP) to improve recreation opportunities and natural resource conditions on the VRD. VRAP is a multifaceted plan that addresses developed and dispersed camping, river access, road and trail improvements (new and decommissions), trailhead and day-use site development, and designation of dispersed recreation areas. Prescott National Forest officials are requesting public comment and input for this proposal. While comments are welcomed at any time, they will be most effective if received by January 17, 2022. An eruption of cheers and tears greeted 39 people who walked onto the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center stage in Prescott on December 10th. The din belied the elation borne of sacrifice by the Yavapai College Nursing Program graduates whose two years or more of training coincided with a global pandemic. Recreation Officials on the Verde Ranger District will close the following facilities/roads in preparation for the winter season starting on Thursday, December 16, 2021, through May 1, 2022. Forest Road 104 near the junction of Forest Road 413; at the entrance to the Mingus Recreation Area will be closed. Walk-in access to Mingus Lake and other areas are still allowed; however, all restrooms will be locked, and trash services canceled. In the City of Prescott's ongoing efforts to promote transparency and public input, an Open Call to the Public will be added to the beginning of all Prescott City Council Voting Meetings, following any Proclamations or Presentations, beginning Tuesday, December 21st.
