The discussion circled around both the toxic and healthy expressions of these qualities and how to cultivate them sustainably.

Selflessness doesn’t mean dismissing the need for healthy validation—it means not relying on others’ opinions to define who we are. Instead, we can anchor our identity in the truth that we are Krishna's beloved. Krishna’s darshan—His gaze of unconditional love—reminds us that we are already seen, recognized, and valued by the Supreme. When we rest in this realization, the need for external recognition naturally dissolves.

Then the discussion delved into mānadena, offering respect to all, rooted in the understanding that Krishna resides in everyone’s heart. This means that every place is a temple, and every person is worthy of reverence. True respect, derived from the Latin "to look again," involves seeing others anew—beyond assumptions or prejudices—and rediscovering them continuously.

Ultimately, respect deepens into love. This love is not merely formal or diplomatic—it is a transformative connection with Krishna and everything connected to Him. Through these practices, we align ourselves with the principles of the Śikṣāṣṭakam and nurture relationships marked by grace and sacredness.
