  • Seth Reiss co-writer of 'The Menu' talks industry, writing, and breaks down those epic moments

Seth Reiss is one of the masterminds behind one of the most talked about movies of the year, The Menu. Reiss co-wrote and executive produced the film with Will Tracy (Succession). Reiss has had quite a career; he began in Pennsylvania and went to Boston University. Once he graduated he headed to NY, and as they say, the rest is history. Reiss talks about how he got into the industry, his writing background, and how he and Tracy came up with the storyline behind the film. The film is so genius with the multiple conversations and themes going on all at the same time. The cast was flawless, and the multiple moments created throughout The Menu are as equally shocking as they are on point. Reiss answers all the questions, including the themes addressed, the meaning behind the main character's relationships, that shocking chef moment, and of course, the ending of the film and the importance of a burger. I had so many questions, and Reiss was nice enough to answer them all. You can feel his excitement for the movie and his happiness that it has resonated with people. He also has a lovely message for all the fans of the film.

  • Kaleidoscope cast reunites to talk their first episode, being number one on Netflix, and a possible season two

We spoke with Peter Mark Kendall, Paz Vega, and Niousha Noor a few weeks after Kaleidoscope was released to see how they felt about having the number-one show on Netflix. All three of them spoke about what it was like getting the call for the show, which episodes they watched first, and whether they read the scripts in a specific order or as they were sent. Kendall and Vega talk a lot about their characters and some of the fun scenes they got to do -- with both finding out their journey watching the show (which Netflix auto-picks the order) started relatively the same. Whereas Noor spoke about the first scene she shot (which was tricky as it, too, was out of order) and the episode she got as her first. The three of them all talk about being a part of something revolutionary and when they had to reach out for help to keep their storylines straight. We discuss their favorite and least favorite things about their characters and some of those big reveals -- including if there will be a season two.

  • Christian Bale, Harry Melling, Lucy Boynton, Harry Lawtey, and writer Scott Cooper talk making The Pale Blue Eye

Christian Bale, Harry Melling, Lucy Boynton, Harry Lawtey, and writer Scott Cooper sat down to discuss their latest project, The Pale Blue Eye, which is currently in theaters and set to come to Netflix. While Cooper said he has been working on this project for over a decade, he wanted to work with Bale, but it never seemed to be the right time. So once everything fell into place (which meant an older Bale), Cooper said he was ready to move forward on the project. Meanwhile, Bale said Cooper was waiting for him to be grumpier and older (to which he jokes he succeeded). Bale talked about Cooper never getting his accent right and the similarities and differences between his character Augustus Landor and Mellings, Edgar Allan Poe. While the two initially seem significantly different when the movie starts, you can begin to see similarities emerge that help you understand how these two worked together. Add in Boynton and Lawtey, and you have yourself one crazy detective story that is filled with twists and turns to the film's last minute.

  • Manifest's Jack Messina discussed returning to the show, his favorite memories from the seasons, and what he will miss when its over

Jack Messina began a journey years ago when he took a chance and auditioned for the role of Cal Stone for Manifest, and as they say, the rest is history. Messina began drawing a map of what young Cal would look like, how he would speak, and how to embark on a show full of twists and turns. Messina played Cal for three seasons when he was told the network canceled the show. Fans began protesting and creating campaigns to bring the show back, and luckily, Netflix heard their cries. The streaming service revived it to give it a proper farewell. In doing so, there would be a time jump, meaning Messina wouldn't be playing Cal for the final season. So Messina met with Ty Doran, who would be playing the adult version of Cal. The two discussed the show and Cal's storyline. In a prior interview with Doran, he said that Messina created the Cal "we all know and love," and he wanted to study him and pay homage to what Messina had created. However, in a beautiful twist of fate, for Season 4 Part One, released on Netflix (which contained 10 of the 20 final episodes), Messina received a call that they wanted him to come back in and film again. Messina said returning to the show he loved so much was a full-circle moment. We discuss what it was like working on the show from the beginning, what it was like leaving and coming back, and what he will miss the most when the final episodes air. Messina is a true gentleman and spent so much time with us; he is patient and sweet. It was a wonderful experience meeting him, and we can't wait to see what he has planned next.

  • Kheris Rogers author, CEO of a clothing line with an anti-bullying mission is just getting started

Kheris Rogers is one of the fiercest people you will ever meet. She has begun setting goals for herself at a young age and has accomplished them all due to her determination, positive attitude, and hard work. Rogers is a 16-year-old CEO of apparel brand Flexin in My Complexion https://flexininmycomplexion.com/. Her message on anti-bullying and for black girls and women to “Flex” and LOVE their skin is drawing huge attention and support from some of our favorite, beautiful, and influential melanated icons, including Lupita Nyong’o, Whoopi Goldberg, Alicia Keys, and more. Many are starting to proudly “rock” the Flexin in my Complexion gear. Kheris is so thrilled and grateful. A native of Los Angeles, she launched the line after being bullied at age 10 for her beautiful, dark-melanated skin tone. She wrote a book called Shine Bright (published by Harper Collins) that is available anywhere books are sold to help other kids that look like her know that that is what makes them unique -- that is their light, their superpower. Rogers is doing so many projects at once that it would take me an entire book to write them all down, but speaking to her, I learned she is way beyond her years, has a good family, is grounded, and is not stopping any time soon. Rogers dreams of having a million in the bank before the year is over, and I think she might make that happen and more.

    Bio:

Six years ago, Kheris Rogers came to national prominence when she turned the tables on bullies at school who made fun of her dark skin by launching her apparel brand Flexin' In My Complexion.™ Overnight, Kheris and her streetwear line, which champions self-love, self-worth and representation for Black girls and women, became a viral sensation! Iconic celebrities and pop culture figures including Lupita Nyong’o, Alicia Keys, Whoopi Goldberg and Taraji P. Henson became some of the young fashionista's earliest supporters. Represented by LA Models, Kheris made history as one of the youngest designers to ever debut her line at NY Fashion Week.

At the still tender age of 16, the Los Angeles native and fashion CEO has added 'author' and 'humanitarian' to her growing list of attributions. Kheris hopes her children's book “Shine Bright” encourages kids -- especially from the Black community -- to embrace their uniqueness and celebrate themselves even when others don't. Luana Kay Horry, Senior Editor at HarperCollins Children’s Books, calls Kheris "an inspiration to anyone who has ever been bullied for the things that make them beautiful," and noted that her story will "encourage all children to shine as bright as they can and on their own terms.”

Netflix, the streamer behind the show, will be releasing the show in total -- but the catch is that everyone who logs into their Netflix account to stream it will be watching the episodes in a different order. Depending on the order, you might have specific points of view, ideas, and characters' expectations that will dramatically shift as the season progresses. Courtney, who plays Bob Goodwin, and Elbay, who plays Judy Goodwin, both talk about what it was like working on something so original. Both agree that each episode served almost like a pilot and that they had to keep that in mind while filming. The two both praised the scripts, cast, and crew for helping to piece this show together, weaving all of these stories beautifully.
