On LGHL’s Outside the Shoe podcast, we talk all things Ohio State athletics that happen outside the confines of the Horseshoe.
On the show today, Meredith previews the upcoming Ohio State men’s lacrosse season. It may only be January, but lacrosse is already poised to kick-off its 2020 campaign Saturday at noon against Marquette in Columbus. The Buckeyes are coming off something of a disappointing season in 2019. After going a perfect 7-0 in non-conference play, Ohio State struggled in a tough Big Ten, ultimately finishing the season with an 8-4 record and missing out on the postseason entirely.
However, things are looking up for Nick Myers’ squad. The Buckeyes return most of their scoring power from last season, including three-time All-American midfielder Tre Leclaire, and are bringing on a top recruiting class which can contribute immediately on the field. The pieces are certainly in place for Ohio State to get back to the NCAA Tournament in 2020.

On LGHL’s Outside the Shoe podcast, we talk all things Ohio State athletics that happen outside the confines of the Horseshoe.
It’s a busy weekend in sports at Ohio State. With men’s and women’s ice hockey back after winter break, both have already posted wins in the first games of their respective series. Ohio State wrestling also defeated previously unbeaten and 24th-ranked Rutgers in the Covelli Center Friday night.
But that’s not all. Track and field and women’s gymnastics are poised to kick off this weekend as well. Track and field, in fact, already started their competitions Friday night in Lexington at the Jim Green Invitational, hosted by Kentucky. Women’s gymnastics, meanwhile, open competition with NC State in Columbus Saturday.

With students returning from winter break, the floodgates are about to open with the return of winter sports, like swimming and wrestling, as well as the start of spring sports.
Yes, spring sports.
It might only be January, but indeed, sports like lacrosse and track are already scheduled to kick off this month. Leading the way is men’s volleyball, which opens its season against North Greenville University Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Covelli Center.
Meredith provides a refresher on NCAA volleyball -- including its unique tournament structure and conference alignments -- before breaking down Ohio State’s historical success. She then gets into all of the new things to look forward to from men’s volleyball this season, including a new coach, new players and a new home in the Covelli Center.
Yes, there’s lots to be excited about for volleyball. Plus, with spring sports tipping off, warmer weather must be just around the corner, right?
