Friday night, No. 11 Ohio State basketball had its toughest test of the non-conference schedule, facing the Stanford Cardinal. Despite being out star freshman Jaloni Cambridge, Stanford was no match for the Buckeyes who defeated the ACC side 84-59. Following the game, head coach Kevin McGuff, Chance Gray and Madison Greene spoke with the media.

McGuff gave an update on Cambridge, second half intensity and why he was still active and vocal with his team late in the game, up 20 points.

Gray discusses what she saw playing Stanford two years with Oregon that helped Ohio State expose the Cardinal defense and Madison Greene discussed her strongest offensive performance of the season.

The pair discuss all aspects of Saturday's Ohio State and Tennessee College Football Playoff game which will kick off at 8 p.m. ET in Ohio Stadium on Saturday.

Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s I-80 Football Show. On this show, we travel down I-80 to talk all things Big Ten Football. This is the only Big Ten Podcast that’ll cover all 18 teams. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.

We’re back to talk bowl games and the college football playoffs but we have to acknowledge a bit of big news. Michael Vick has been named the head coach at Norfolk State, an HBCU in Virginia. Vick continues the trend of very popular college football and NFL players landing coaching gigs. In other news, millionaire coaches continue to complain about the college football calendar without offering solutions so Jordan presents his ideal college football calendar that would fix the December logjam. In this calendar, the season would end on New Year’s Day, just as the football gods intended. 

The Big Ten’s bowl schedule is pretty spread out with only Rutgers playing in a bowl game this week. Rutgers (7-5) takes on Kansas State (8-4) on December 26th. Can the Scarlet Knights complete their season by winning eight games for the first time since 2014? It won’t be an easy win but with three weeks to prepare and having already played tougher Big Ten opponents we think Rutgers is going to pull off a win to cap a great season. 

The College Football Playoff starts this weekend and the guys give detailed breakdowns of the three games involving Big Ten teams. With four teams in the playoffs including no. one Oregon, the Big Ten is the betting favorite to win the national championship but can they go 3-0 in their first-round games? Indiana is not getting enough respect as it travels down the road to play Notre Dame. The Hoosiers can win that game and it shouldn't be a surprise. Many people haven’t watched SMU play and believe Penn State will walk all over them, we disagree but if Penn State can play like they did in the Big Ten Championship Game against Oregon they’ll come out on top. Ohio State has some of the worst vibes in the country but they are still one of the best teams in the playoffs. Ohio State can win this game and should, the only question remaining is can Ryan Day get out of his team's way and set them up for success? 

In his weekly pitstop, Jordan discusses the Yankees signing Max Fried and trading for Devin Williams and Cody Bellinger. It doesn’t make up for losing Juan Soto but the Yankees aren’t laying down this off-season.

“One guy literally destroyed us. 31 points and 15 rebounds — one guy.”

Those were the words of Roger Powell — Valpo head coach and former co-worker of Jake Diebler Tuesday night after the Buckeyes beat Valparaiso, 95-73. Devin Royal scored a career-high 31 points, which left Powell at a loss for words other than the above statement and that Royal “just wanted the basketball more than us.”

Royal and Evan Mahaffey also spoke to the media after the win. Royal said he didn’t remember the last time he got a standing ovation like he did on Tuesday night, and that even though scoring 31 points may look easy, it actually isn’t. Royal gave credit to his teammates and also pointed out that Mahaffey was one point off of his career high.

Diebler spoke for a long time about the game itself, as well as his history as a graduate of Valparaiso and his time playing for Homer Drew. At one point Diebler got emotional about his time at Valpo, and referred to Powell as a brother.

Diebler said that Aaron Bradshaw is “making progress” and will hopefully return soon, but that Meechie Johnson is out indefinitely dealing with “a personal matter.”

It’s College Football Playoff game week, everyone, and we’ve got plenty to talk about. That includes some of the angst over the thought of Tennessee fans buying up some of Ohio State’s student ticket allotment. Is this a big deal? How many could it possibly be? I guess we’ll find out on Saturday, but we’re not worried.

We touched on a stupid bill that would make planting an opposing team’s flag in Ohio Stadium’s turf a felony. Why is this necessary? Who is asking for this (aside from a legislator trying to score points with OSU fans)? We didn’t spend much time on the topic, but it was still more than it was worth.

Devin Brown is in the transfer portal...sort of. Brown declared he will enter the portal after Ohio State’s postseason run is over, so that time could come this weekend or stretch into mid-January (or somewhere in between).

There are a lot of Big Ten teams in bowl games this year, and we went down the full schedule of those matchups, throwing in a few other games of interest along the way. We think the B1G will show well in the postseason, but in the era of opt-outs and transfer portal happenings, it’s never easy to predict.

Finally, we turned our attention toward the Tennessee Volunteers. Our preview includes what we think Ohio State will have to do to get a win, which mostly consists of not letting preventable history from repeating itself. We also selected our offensive and defensive picks to click and made our final score predictions.

Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s Power Two Podcast. On this show, we talk about Big Ten and SEC football…and everyone else. This show is for the die-hard fans and the casual college football fans. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the major matchups of the previous weekend and look ahead at the games, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host DaNaysia Jones. Lock in as we run a power sweep through the college football landscape.

In this week’s episode, Jordan and DJ discuss high school reunions and food. After they get the random topics out of the way, they dive into the news of, shocker, coaches' hirings. WVU welcomes Rich Rod home which prompted some nostalgia from Jordan. DJ and Jordan discuss the ridiculousness of Bill Belichick getting the first college head coaching job of his career. It feels like a publicity stunt so we will see how that goes. Jackson State won the Celebration Bowl, prompting a conversation about Deion Sanders’ impact on HBCUs.

In the two-minute drill, Jordan and DJ discuss the schedule of the College Football Playoffs. Jordan isn’t the biggest fan of all the eight to ten-day breaks between each game. DJ isn’t the biggest fan of the home team hosting because these games are so close to graduation. Jordan believes that CFP should be pushed up a couple of weeks to mitigate that. Only time will tell.

In the pre-game power sweep, Jordan and DJ share the schedule. The games are: Friday: Indiana -Notre Dame, Noon: SMU - Penn State, Mid-Day: Clemson-Texas, and Primetime: Tennessee-OSU. DJ and Jordan also share their projected winners and we will see if they are right.

In the two-minute warning, Jordan talks about how great it is to work in higher ed and get two weeks of holiday vacation. DJ shares her excitement about attending the SMU vs Duke basketball game.

In an early Saturday morning game, No. 11 Ohio State women's basketball welcomed in-state Youngstown State Penguins to the Schottenstein Center. Following an 87-39 win for the Buckeyes, the Thierry sisters Taylor and Haley Thierry spoke to the media together.

The twins who competed against each other for the first time in their lives discussed seeing each other at the scorer's table in the second quarter, Taylor's block on Haley in the fourth quarter and the size of the crowd who came out to see the fraternal twins play.

Following the sisters, Cotie McMahon joins Thierry to discuss the one-sided Buckeyes win that should have been a larger margin in the eyes of Ohio State. The two lament allowing the Penguins to score 14 points in the first quarter, working towards playing hard for 40 minutes and playing at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Coach McGuff ends the press conference with an update on Kennedy and Jaloni Cambridge's injuries, who were both out against the Penguins. Plus, what he thought of the intensity level of his team and the growing leadership ability of McMahon.
