In our retrospective of the 2012 Best Supporting Actor race, the Mikes break down the category with Oscar theories galore. You don’t want to miss part two where we analyze how Hollywood stars can bump actors with more prominent roles into the supporting category, and how Robert DeNiro may have the most impressive career in acting history. As always, we’ll finish our reviews and perform all kinds of re-ranks on the category and the year at large.

Robert DeNiro’s filmography might be the greatest of all time, and Also Mike describes it with an audition for voiceover work in pharmaceutical commercials. We discuss how Bobby D steals Silver Linings Playbook and how the backstory of the film parallels its plot. Then we get into one of the feistier debates in the young history of our podcast. Two men enter… but only one actually knows what he’s talking about. They both leave though, funnily enough… well, one leaves hugging the other man as that other man cries and is grateful he has such a good friend. Umm, we’re not tough.

We shamefully do our best impersonations of Dr. Evil during our bio/filmography of Christoph Waltz, and then we quote Quentin Tarantino a whole bunch. We gush over the Quent-essential Tarantino conventions and how Django Unchained lives up to them. Then we ponder whether or not the Waltz character should be a lead or supporting actor and who else should have been nominated in the category from this movie.

During our Re-Ranking segment we pompously have entitled “Perfecting Perfection,” we not only re-rank the 5 nominees in the category, we also re-rank our 5 favorite Best Supporting Actor performances and then our top movies of the year.
