after having read the first four books in Four Horsemen universe I find this collection of short stories to be very nice. provides interesting background on the world outside the scope of the Four Horsemen groups. I recommend it to anyone interested in continuing these stories

Although prior to listening to this I did not realize that words like alarm werent pronounced as alarrem. It added so much more to an olde beloved tale. I only await for the rest of The Ghosts tales to be available through this service.

This is the best look into the 40k universe that you are going to find. All these books are have to feel of Saving Private Ryan in the grim dark future. I love the series and really hope they adapt ever novel on the series.

Great story

Worst book in the series

Too much intrigue by stupid leaders. It was irritating to the preposterous end. I was waiting for this book. I'm not sure how he redeems the series after all of the off putting tangents the main characters now find themselves on.

Sci-Fi Mastery from Webb, with brilliant Narration

Defiance continues the epic saga of the Legacy Fleet series, which centres on Humanities fight against the deadly Swarm. This is the 5th in the main series, but there is now the Kindle World spin-offs as well delving into multiple different aspects of the story.

In Defiance, Shelby Proctor has been re-instated as an Active Admiral aboard the Independence, alongside Ballsy, who is no longer flying fighters, but is the Captain of the ship. At the start of this book, and as the story moves forward, there are just so many things happening within the Universe that the survival of Humanity is looking kind of bleak. A strange race has done something to the moon of Titan, the Dolmassi are at war again, Granger has returned from the grave, impossibly, with a message that they are coming, and to top it all off, it appears that members of the highest ranks of the Military and Government are acting like they are under the influence of the Swarm again. And this is just the political side, there is all the actual full blown heart pounding ship-to-ship combat that Webb interweaves throughout these books so well also.

This is why Nick Webbs books are just so good, they arent just fleets smashing each other, these are intelligent well thought out thrilling Sci-Fi, and because of his field of study, Nick is able to bring such a high degree of realism to the story with the technology and the Science, making his stories truly gripping reads.

Great continuation, too short for a credit

The story moves along in a fun way, but it's too short to warrant a credit. I know the previous books weren't much longer in length, but in order to handle the recaps (which weren't excessive and were generally fun) etc., later books need more meat, not less. Of all the series I've read in installment form, this was the closest to being offensively short and I almost returned it in protest. If the author/publisher pulls this again, I won't hesitate to return the next book. Keep up the good writing, but have some integrity and respect for fans.

so I really the love d-list supervillain series. is one of my all-time favorite book series out there at this time. I really enjoyed this book but I don't know if it's because we had to wait for some long for it or if or for other reasons that I can't quite put my finger on it this book from a little lacking. That is of course in comparison of the other books in the series which I absolutely love. Jen this is a great book and I had a lot of fun but I listen to it twice right in the world. However there's just something missing not a hundred percent sure what it is but it was missing. if you're a fan of the series you will like this book and you might have a different feelings I love the book and I still I'm going to listen to this one over and over again like I have the others, but I am wondering what else that could have been put in to make this book complete. But that's just my own opinion.

A Good Space Opera

I have read all of Browns books in the two series. I think it is best if one reads them in order. It helps to keep the characters and events arranged.

The first part of the book introduces some new characters and provides some depth to exciting personalities. The first part provides a buildup of suspense toward an event or battle. Brown weaves various plots and locations as the main plot progresses. Then the story suddenly starts moving very fast. There were some great battle scenes on land and space that had me biting my nails. The title of the book has to do with the operation of the gun ships. Nathan and associates are preparing for war. The ending of the book was a bit of a surprise. Cannot wait for the next book to come out.

The book is almost eleven hours long. Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating the book. Kafer has narrated both series.

When you set a high standard

Sometimes when an author is in the middle of a good series and the reader has the associated high expectation a book will flop! That is the case here.

I struggled to finish this book where others in series I listened straight through.

In my opinion this was one or two chapters stretched to try and make it into a whole book. The dialogue was clumsy and forced.

I read a lot of glowing reviews for this book. They must have listened to a different book because this one isn't good.

You experience may differ. The previous books were very good. I don't know if I'll continue with this series if I feel the flop trend will continue.

this was such a disappointment... side quest basically, with the main conflict not even coming into play. have fun with my money... it wasn't even an interesting conflict

Great Read

I love this series; it grasp your attention from beginning to end. This book, revolves mostly around focused story/event. Though, I would love to hear about a larger scale events within a book, the sheer scope and magnitude of,everything going on in the series would be dificult to capture in a single book. At any rate, I strongly recommend it, provided you follow the rest of the series.

SCARY PREMISE FOR THE ZOMPOCALYPSE!

First off let me say I love John Obrien...he is a talented writer, and a very nice man...This was a great premise and shows you how scary the government could get..deceitful and careless...and really cruel! However this book is written in 3rd person...and that ruined it for me...John's other wonderful series is written first person..and its great..so I was disappointed that this book was written in 3rd...and that just does not do it for me...I struggled till about half way through this book and it finally hooked me enough to adjust to the writing style...Most people will love this..but even though the story is completely terrifying...it was not my cup of tea!

Silent But Deadly

I wasn't sure where the story was going at first but I can't wait to continue. At first I thought it was going to be about a couple of cadets trying to get out of an infected town. Then it turned into another plot twist on top of that one and now we see into the mindset of the person responsible for the virus. Then the virus spreads.

Then on top of that one we go to a story about one admitted terrorist (?) just trying to survive after being unfairly blamed for the whole thing going from country to country to country. Then the virus spreads.

Starts out with a lot of action and doesn't stop. Just enough character build to get into the thinking process of the people involved. I really want to know how these stories evolve as I am beginning to care about each one.

Virus versus people versus government versus survival - all good!

Something Different

Not exactly Zombies, but something to be feared non the less. This book is filled with action, compassion, and giggles. O'Brien sure did his homework from the CDC to the Military. The only complaint I have is that I have to wait for the next book.

Terrifyingly realistic

Another John O'Brien story to scare the crap out of me. This zombie tale starts at Ground Zero and shows just how easily thus could happen. I couldn't stop listening!

It was laugh out loud funny. The characters where dynamic and different from each other. The dialogue is very believable. The narrator is a very very good too! He brings the characters to life.Please Mr. Hutchinson write faster, I can't wait for the next book to come out.

Cal Carver has done it again with this latest iteration in the series! He (and his friends) continued to bungle their way through, with humor, grit, and grand incompetence in so many ways.

This is perhaps the best in the series balancing action, story driven emotional impact, and humor throughout.

I thoroughly enjoyed it from page 1 through the very end.

I don't know where the series is going, but I sincerely hope the author keeps moving forward with it.

I love this series and this book Takes the Cake it's funny yet it still hits you emotionally in spots it has lots of action and is great from page 1 to the end
