Roger Miller was a super-talented singer and songwriter who had penned and sang many memorable songs such as novelty ones like "Chug-a-Lug", "Do-Wacka-Do" and "Dang Me".
With titles like that you can just imagine what the verses in the songs were like.
He also wrote some great pop songs and of course wrote and sang a song that fans can still recite the lyrics to this day "King of The Road".
In this podcast you also hear about his sense of humor and his Tony Award.

Ethan Bortnick is a child prodigy who I first saw in a PBS concert titled the Power of Music. He was 13 years of age.
You'll hear in this podcast about how his parents discovered their son had talents that were unimaginable. It happened when he was three years of age and wanted to take piano lessons. In their discussion with him and he said he would show them what he could do and they were amazed.
Through watching Sesame Street and other children's shows on Television he loved the singing and music playing on the show and the songs for kids. He told his parents he could show them what he learned.
What he showed them next as he sat at his keyboard was that once he heard a song he could play it back immediately note for note and sing the lyrics word for word that he just heard. Remember he was just three years of age. It was then that they realized he was a child prodigy.
You will hear his whole story to the present about this stunning pianist and singer. And his tremendous caring and giving to charitable organizations, having raised 30 million dollars for worthy causes.

Rita Coolidge is one of my favorite singers for many reasons. One is that she has that commercial voice that is instantly recognizable. Added to that though, she has something which is rare for singers and that is, she has a great speaking voice. When she speaks she has a very warm, soft and endearing voice.
Who could ignore "We're All Alone", or "Close the Window, Calm the Light"?
Rita was a fervent supporter of her Native American Heritage and her Cherokee ancestors.
She had been married to Kris Kristofferson for eight years and sane and wrote several hit songs with her prolific songwriting husband.

Like many great singers Etta James started out at a young age. As with many children in the South, church attendance was important. At five years of age she was getting active at St. Paul's Baptist Church. She loved the church and its choir which was under the direction of Jakes Earle Hines. He was the one that first taught Etta to sing. "And what a Teacher he was". He expected his students to sing with fire and soul and told them, 'don't hold nothing back'.
You'll hear all about his enthusiasm in this audio podcast about the thunder and joy, ripping music that was sung at Church.
You'll also hear about all of Etta's singing pals that she hung out with. They were a who's who list of the top singers and musicians on planet earth at that time.
Some of them were Johnny Otis, Stan Kenton Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Jimi Hendrix, Little Richard, Janis Joplin, Sly Stone, Wilson Picket and Elvis Presley.
Also Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, and Sam Cooke.

Freddie Mercury began taking piano lessons at the age of seven and at 12 years of age formed a school band.
He had the ability to listen to a song on the radio and replay what he heard on his piano.
One of the things that impressed me was his singing voice. He could effortlessly move from one register to another. He had a four octave singing voice.
Some of my favorite Queen songs are "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "Good Old Fashion Love" and "We Are the Champions".
The band's initial label 'Mercury' chose the name "Queen" and since Freddie had taken up Art and Graphic Design in college decided to design the 'Queen Logo'.
I do hope you will listen to the whole broadcast as at the end I will tell you the story of Freddie's character which is an admirable trait of him to have.
