Along with this is a discussion of the famous Brill Building at the corner of 49th and Broadway in New York City. It was an office building for various businesses but had some floors where there were record companies. In turn these companies had singers, songwriters, and musicians in their employment.
In 1959 songwriters Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller came to New York and occupied space at the Brill Building. Many artists believe that Lieber and Stoller were one of the top songwriting teams of the century.
In 1962 Aldon Music in the Brill Building had an entire floor and 200 chart hits to their label. And are you ready for this? Of the 18 writers on their payroll the oldest was 36.
The era of the 50s and the 60s was the prime time for Doo-Wop music but it still has a large niche market to this day and for a good reason.
As an artist Alan Jackson defies the norm as he cranks out hit after hit of traditional country music. There is a segment of Country Music fans that feel the older style traditional country music is lost. They feel that no one in the past decade plus has recorded anything comparable to the Nashville Sound that was so prevalent in the 1970s and 1980s. Their one stalwart friend in this mission is Alan Jackson.
The amazing thing is that with all the diversity that Alan's recordings have he still manages to keep the traditional form of Country Music alive. For example his romantic ballad in "I'd Love You All Over Again", his up-tempo songs like "Chattahoochee" and "Mercury Blues", his patriotic song of "Where Were You When" and a religious album titled "Precious Memories."

Dean Martin is one of those rare stars that appealed to both men and women. Not only was he handsome but was considered cool and debonair. As an entertainer he never failed to keep his audience amused.
He was successful in all mediums which is a rarity. Even Sinatra who was successful as a singer and movie star did not have a long running Television show on Thursday nights year after year as Dean did.
An admirable trait that he had was that 'he was his own man.' That meant that he didn't kowtow to people including the mafia and Frank.

Jerry Lee Lewis' career is a storied example of an artist who had something brewing in him as to what his vision was of Rock and Roll music. Dick Clark has called him one of the Founding Fathers of Rock and Roll and Sam Phillips, the founder of Sun Records calls him a music genius.
Many great artists came out of Sun Records including Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee. Elvis of course had those swiveling hips and shaking legs and Jerry Lee had that unique R&B, rockabilly piano sound along with a jumping and rocking body that constantly was infusing rhythm into his songs. But beyond all the shaking they also had one important thing and that is that they made great records. Their songs were imbedded in the minds of teenagers and others because they were classics.
Two of Jerry Lee's biggest hits were "Whole Lot of Shakin' Going On" and "Great Balls of Fire."
He had a lot of tragedy in his life with the loss of a three year old son in a swimming pool accident and the loss of another son who was 19 years old and lost his life in a car accident.

Patsy Cline is without a doubt one of the most successful and respected female vocalists of the 20th century. Sadly at 30 years of age and at the height of her career she was killed in a plane crash. By coincidence she eventually hooked up with legendary producer Owen Bradley at Decca Records. She had several hit records such as Walkin' After Midnight, Crazy and Sweet Dreams.
Unknown to many was her generosity to fellow musicians that were struggling to succeed in their careers.
