Randalynn and Vicki are chatting with friend and ovarian cancer thriver Shirley this week. Shirley shares about her diagnosis, how she found community while going through her diagnosis, and how important our mental health is. Not only during a cancer diagnosis, but for anyone dealing with something difficult in their life, paying attention to your mental health is vital.

This week Randalynn and Vicki are chatting with ovarian cancer survivor Karin. Karin shares her diagnosis of Stage 2 dysgerminoma in 2019, as well as her recurrence earlier this year.  

She shares a story of how neighbors came together to welcome her home from her last treatment in July. A community she barely new yet (as they had recently  moved) showed up for her. This reminded us that there is still some kindness from strangers in this world. 

Karin is currently focused on getting her energy back up and her family. She continues to focus on strength and positivity.

"Are you okay?" - Let's be honest, do you truly answer this truthfully when asked?  More times than not, chances are that you don't.  Or maybe it's makes you cringe and you quickly answer "good", "okay", or "fine" because answering honestly just takes too much emotional energy sometimes. 

On today's episode Randalynn and Vicki discuss how as a cancer survivor, divorcee, or any other challenging circumstances it's completely a-okay  to not be okay.  Sometimes you just need time or the tools to work through what's going on in order to be okay.  We weren't always as good at saying "I'm actually not okay today" but with time and practice we've each gotten better.

This week Vicki and Randalynn are chatting with Matt Ode. A stage 3 Testicular cancer survivor diagnosed at just age 24. He survived a 2 week coma, complete live and kidney failure and worked his way back to health. Once a personal trainer, he now spends his time sharing his amazing story and positive energy.  

You will quickly realize during this episode that not only is Matt an amazing human being, but he is also a vibrant, enthusiastic, and energetic guy who now focuses on helping individuals transform their mind, body and spirt. He is a transformation coach and an Inspirational Speaker.

What if instead of starting a conversation by asking "how are you?", a common greeting, you asked "what's good with you?"?  Sure, you're going to catch some people off guard at first but the intent is to find more about the person you're conversing with and focus on the positive vs. going down the slippery slope "how are you?" may take one.
