In this episode, Pastor Harris will examine a second impediment to success, which is that of self-pity. It is related to the first but the two are not the same; not even remotely. This second impediment can be an abyss, and some of the greatest people who have ever lived have fallen into this abyss. Those people who have had the pleasure of seeing the movie, “The Darkest Hour,” have seen how Winston Churchill, as great as he was, almost plunged into this abyss. Millions of others have done the same thing and destroyed their lives.

One of the great biblical examples of a man suffering from self-pity became one of the central characters in Old Testament history. In fact, he was the first of Israel’s great prophets, and his name was Elijah the Tishbite. Please do not jump to the conclusion that the Pastor is simply teaching us again about some strange guy that lived three thousand years ago. And please do not jump to the conclusion that the life of this man has nothing to do with us.
