Who are the greatest wrestlers to have never had a match in the WWF/WWE or WWWF? This week “internet bullshit” answers this question with a list that we, surprisingly, largely agree with. This week’s match is an incredibly famous historical cage match from Starrcade 1985 but Tariq has a ton of reasons to explain why you should not waste your time watching this match. In addition, although Scott Bakula isn’t on this episode Jim loses it when we talk about the show that made him famous.
Ever watched a Japanese TV show before, if you have then you will understand this week’s intro all too well, if you haven’t then you are in for a treat. This week we discuss, at length, a TV show that gave Masahiro Chono mainstream exposure and why he stole that show. The match this week features a rather unusual one from the Tokyo Dome where Chono takes on Chyna who was freshly released from the WWE following a bizarre set of circumstances. Although this is far from a classic there are a few interesting moments we cover in great detail.
In this week’s episode we talk about our Halloween experiences and Tariq talks about Halloween not being for kids in Japan! Moreover he talks about one of the most important holiday traditions during Christmas in Japan, eating at KFC! In addition, in our intro to the match we talk about some of the scariest Halloween themed characters in wrestling history. The match this week had a number of interesting spots, some old, some new but this was the first time in a long time that the finish of a match blew Tariq’s mind.
In this week we talk about something we don’t usually talk about, movies. Jim and Tariq talk about their unique movie going experiences. More specifically, Jim talks about watching Shaolin Soccer in an art house theater in Buffalo and Tariq talks about watching a movie that got a standing ovation! The reason why we are talking about movies this week is because this week’s match is a cinematic match. If you don’t know what we are talking about, go to Youtube and watch this match before you listen to the podcast (search for Ultimate Deletion on Youtube, available at the time of the release of this episode). We are sure that you will either love it or hate it. One of us loves it and one of us shares Vince McMahon’s opinion.
This week you are in for a treat! For those of you who don’t know, Jim, at one time, might have been the world’s foremost authority of Firepro Wrestling and today we are talking about Gamerant’s list of the greatest wrestling video games ever. Does Firepro get ranked? What does Jim think about this list and what wrestling game will be ranked as number one of all time? For any of you hardcore wrestling gamers out there, you will not believe what was ranked number 1! The reason we talked about video games in our intro this week was because TNA was promoting their video game and used it in Kurt Angle’s intro video. So Jim will also provide his thoughts on that game. As far as a match goes, you couldn’t have asked for more out of these two guys, but ultimately ridiculous stipulations and nonsensical post match booking ruined what was otherwise an absolutely outstanding match.
In this week’s pre-intro we do something out of the ordinary and takes a look at the return of Bray Wyatt. Catch our thoughts on where this return is headed. Tariq has an unusual insight about who Bray Wyatt might be feuding with. After that our internet bullshit segment features Sportskeeda’s list of greatest cruiserweight ever and… Tiger Mask, Johnny Saint and Dynamite Kid don’t even make the list… Then we take a close look at the main event of Lucha Underground’s first ever event featuring two wrestlers we love, John Morrison (Mundo) and Ricochet (Prince Puma) in a short but very sweet match. It should be mentioned that as good as this match was, the post match booking and the introduction of the storyline for the next episode was ludicrous.
This week we take a look back at one of the greatest pioneers in Japanese wrestling history, Antonio Inoki. His accomplishments both in and outside of the ring are too vast to cover in a single episode but this week’s intro talks about aspects of his career that some of you might not be aware of. Using the word “Legend” to describe Antonio Inoki might be an understatement. To demonstrate just how incredible he was this week’s match features a 52 year old Inoki vs. Big Van Vader in his prime and these two absolutely stole the show. If you have never seen an Antonio Inoki match, this is an excellent place to start.
In this week we talk about guys who should have been over but never got over including but not exclusive to Norman Smiley, Bam Bam Bigelow, Blitzkrieg, John Morrison etc... This week’s match was the main event of Hustle’s first PPV and on paper it seems quite interesting but… talk about a booking cluster###.
Tariq and Jim have a talk about slapstick comedy in wrestling. We talk about our favorite workers in this genre and promotions that you should absolutely check out. This week’s match features one of the funniest slapstick comedians in wrestling that most North American fans have no idea about. This week’s match is over in 23 seconds but don’t worry, Stalker gets an immediate re-match that unfortunately also doesn’t work out in his favor. Both matches were outstanding from a comedy perspective.
Tariq and Jim have both had encounters with animals but Tariq’s encounters with animals will leave you in stitches. He talks about being attacked by cats, dogs, and even fish! And the reason why we are talking about animals attacks this week is because the premise of this week’s match is that the loser MUST be attacked by animals. Yes you read that correctly! And… the loser is not being attacked by just any ordinary animal, the loser will be attacked by a shoal of Piranhas! This week we get to talk about the infamous Piranha death match and this is definitely not for the faint at heart.
