This is the 3rd sermon that was preached on the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time. This time it’s January 2005.

I preached it again at Faith Community MB Church in September 2005. I preached an abbreviated version in 2021 at the first Jesuit Anti-Racist Solidarity Retreat.

When I started reviewing this sermon I was surprised that the first word on the page was “sing.” I couldn’t believe it. Me??!!

Long ago I felt like I needed to have an umbrella over the work I was producing. This sermon and so many others fall under, ON the MOVE PEACE Production. Written and preached for the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, January 2004.

This sermon contains excerpts from Freedom Justice Community, written 19 January 1997 and was adapted from a 2000 talk with the same title. I updated the sermon to preach it on the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, January 2008. A year later I preached it at the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Catholic Festival of Faith in October 2009. I revised it again in December 2009 to preach at Faith Community MB Church.

As I went through the 3 versions of this sermon, I was struck by a consistency in them—it is imperative that we act in our time to do the work of God we are called to do.

I also noticed a prophetic voice in this sermon, so the updates are minimal. Listen and discern for yourself whether there is prophecy.

I find it interesting that I preached this sermon 2 years in a row for Mothers’ Day, 2014 and 2015 at Faith Community MB.

This sermon was first preached in May 2009. I then used it for a series of talks in March 2016 for the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in McAllen Texas and Honolulu Hawaii. I then used it for World Youth Day Chicago in July of 2016 with the title, Your Change for My Change: Mercy, Mercy Me.

This sermon was first preached September 2016. I wonder what message I’m trying to learn about love as this is the second sermon with excerpts from An Agape Kind of Love first preached May 1998.

This sermon was first preached on the 4th Sunday of Easter, April 2007. I preached it 10 years later at Faith Community Missionary Baptist Church, July 2017.

God on the Inside was first preached in May 2007 on Mother's Day. This was also the 4th Sunday of Easter and First Communion. I then preached this sermon in June 2015, most likely at Faith Community MB Church. It contains some phrasing from the sermon the Outer Limits (previous episode) and An Agape Kind of Love a sermon preached in May 1998

This sermon was first preached in May 2004 on the 6th Sunday of Easter.

I then used it for a Theology on Tap talk in July 2009 where I changed the title to Love from the Outer Limits: The Search for Peace

There is a point in the sermon where I share My Story. I am allowing the spirit to preach that part, meaning there will be no script.

This sermon was previously entitled Dedication to Christ with other Believers and was preached at the 2004 Easter Vigil at Holy Angels, now Our Lady of Africa, in Chicago. As I was reflecting on the text and editing it, I changed the title. I pray there is a message for you here.
