Matthew 2:1-12. As we explore the depth of a classic Christmas carol each week, this week we ask ourselves, “how do I approach Jesus?” As we look at the first Christmas we see examples of how we can approach Jesus from several different groups of people. Some were anti-Jesus. Others were indifferent about Him. Still others were passionate in the adoration of Him. It’s good to learn from them but it’s great to ask ourselves, “how am I approaching Jesus in my life?”

Mark 15. We talk about WHAT Christians should do a lot. We should love God, love others like we love ourselves, generously give, graciously forgive, consistently pursue holiness and always remain humble. But WHY? WHY should we live that way? Mark 14:53-65. We have all faced situations in life that made us think, “life’s not fair!” That is an absolute fact. Life is not fair. That’s never been more true than in the life of Jesus Christ. As we look at the trial of Jesus we see unfairness, but we also see wisdom from Jesus as he carefully chooses when to be silent and when to speak. Most importantly, in this story we see that even though life’s not fair, God is still good.

Mark 14:10-11, 43-52. It was a total misunderstanding of who Jesus was that led to his betrayal, arrest, and crucifixion. Those who acted out in these ways didn’t understand that He was the Son of God and that led them to miss the mark pretty badly. Anytime we misunderstand who Jesus is and what His Kingdom is about… it can lead to us missing the mark. In today’s message we look at the betrayal and arrest of Jesus to consider if we are really that different from Judas who betrayed him or the disciples who deserted him.

Mark 14:32-42. Gethsemane was a physical garden, but much more than that, it was a pivotal place in which Jesus faced the true pressure of His purpose to die for mankind. Through His prayer to the Father and His words to His disciples, Jesus teaches us an important lesson about what our mindset should be when we face pivotal, pressure packed moments in our lives.

Mark 14:12-26. Why do festivals or holidays exist? Usually, they are created to remind us of someone who was great or something great that was done for us. Throughout the Bible we see examples of festivals and celebrations that point toward God and His provision for His people. There is no greater example of this than the one who Jesus gave to His disciples (and us) the night He was betrayed. In this message we will look at what He gave us and why it matters.

As we continue in Mark this morning, we see a woman who takes the most valuable thing she has and gives it to Jesus. Through the actions of this woman we see that following Jesus eventually means giving all of ourselves and everything we have over to him, because a relationship with Jesus is worth more than everything else.

Mark 13:1-37. The discussions over the end times never seem to cease. When will it happen? What will it be like? In Mark 13 Jesus’ disciples ask him these questions and while Jesus doesn’t give them the “when”, he does give us a lot of wisdom on “what” we should be doing until then.
